Melissa Lavender, 33, a culinary arts teacher at South Lake High School in St Clair Shores, Michigan has been arrested and charged on allegations that she engaged in acts of gross misconduct of a sexual nature with the two male South Lake High School students.

Lavender has been charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The alleged victims are 16 and 17-years-old.
It is alleged that Lavender engaged in sexual conduct with the boys on the night of June 26 on the boat belonging to the parts of a former student. Reportedly the boat that was docked in a St. Clair Shores marina at the time and there were eight former and current students on board with Lavender being the only teacher present.
Lavender came to the attention of police when a witness reportedly came forward and said that Lavender had inappropriately touched the two students.
Lavender who has reportedly been with the school for five has been suspended with pay.
Lavender has been released on a $25,000 personal bond conditioned upon her having no contact with witnesses or victims, nor having unsupervised contact with any minors. Lavender is also forbidden to consume alcohol or drugs and must get random Breathalyzer tests four times a day as long as she’s free on bond.
News media reports indicate that Lavender is married with two children.
02/27/09 - Preliminary Hearing Waived
Melissa Lavender waived her preliminary hearing today and will go to trial on two charges of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The charges are misdemeanors punishable by up to two years in prison.
Arraignment for Lavender in Macomb County Circuit Court is set for March 16.

Victims?? Sure, ok. It's not like we don't have anything better to do with finite law enforcement, judicial, and correctional resources.
She looks like the SuperNanny’s cousin or something. But she shouldn’t look that matronly at 33.
Take a look at that picture again. They were definitely “victims” in every sense of the word.
As for me, I’d need a high dosage of Viagra and a sizeable contingent of Colortinis before I’d be able to raise the flag to enter her portal of doom.

Difficult to tell from that picture whether “guilty” or not.
These two guys and the witness are jerks for destroying her life.

I thought women wanted to be equal to men? Equality, and all that.
Would the punishment have been the same if a male teacher had inappropriate relations with two young girls?
Yeah, isn't it too bad that she couldn't just commit fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and then merrily go on with her life. Those pesky laws always seem to get in the way, don't they?
