WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department on Monday released a long-secret legal document from 2001 in which the Bush administration claimed the military could search and seize terror suspects in the United States without warrants.

The legal memo was written about a month after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. It says constitutional protections against unlawful search and seizure would not apply to terror suspects in the U.S., as long as the president or another high official authorized the action.

The memo was one of nine released Monday by the Obama administration.

Abe suspended Habeus Corpus.

So did Jeff Davis. But while Lincoln only put suspected bridge burners in prison, ol Jeff tended to hang them. But after the Confederates fulfilled Davis's instruction that the body should hang on the bridge for a few days as a warning to those who would defy the Confederate New Order, I'm sure the survivors could have what was left of the body.

Lincoln was dealing with an honorable opposing regime. He was fully justified in his actions.

My fear is that since he has found a “supposed” precedent, he may use it for his own gains.

I meant to say that Lincoln was NOT dealing with an honorable regime in the Confederate States of America. Like todays terrorist gangs, they represented a violent challenge to American safety and values.

It’s already been said that Obama wants to overturn everything that Reagan did.

Those pictures are some of the most powerful I’ve seen posted here. Completely depressing.

Exactly!

The other candidates had “verification” technology on their websites, so when you sent donations via credit card, it could be verified. Obama’s website “disposed” of such useless mechanisms.

It is becoming clear that Obama hates America so much, that I seriously believe he would launch nuclear weapons at Americans.

“I know people who do business in Africa at a high level and the execs and govt people in Africa all have he is a Muslim.”

Hmm, the guy’s a marxist and that’s his religion. What does “have he is” mean anyway?

Yeah, I remember the anthrax attacks and the lack of any trail on it publicly with credibility. So what of it?

We’re going to have to have another 9-11 before the Bozos in congress try to reign Zero in.

I can't believe there isn't one statesman among the Democrats brave enough to speak out against the Marxist takeover of our country.

Yeah well isn’t that just wishful thinking then? They obviously don’t know about the training Obama got from Frank “the commie” Davis and the CPUSA with a hat tip to Moscow.

And they certainly don’t know about his twenty years of marxist liberation theology training with “Rev.” Wright.

I read that Benedict Arnold was the only general to defeat the British in any major battle. Is that right?

He and Ethan Allen led the brigade that captured Fort Ticonderoga on Lake Champlain. he also led battles in Quebec and Saratoga, but i question the veracity of the statement that he was the only general to win a battle in that war.

-- I haven't read the whole thread, but can somebody tell us what we've actually learned that we didn't know before? --

Go to http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/documents/olc-memos.htm, download the memos, and read them for yourself. What I've seen so far is summaries of deprecated legal theories that pertain to [exclusive] executive authority in the areas of detention, treatment of prisoners, surveillance, and similar subjects. President Bush's administration maintained that its efforts in ferreting out and dealing with those suspected of being or assisting terrorists, here and abroad, was completely immune from Congressional and Judicial oversight.

I think most Freepers realize that Obama is out to subjugate the US to the radical Muslims. What I don’t understand is why he seems to oppose the President having the power to ignore the constitution in order to protect us. If he were a little smarter, he’d claim that it was not only necessary to ignore the First and Fourth Amendments, but the Second as well and begin collecting our guns.
