Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown
The London Telegraph ^ | March 7, 2009 | Tim Shipman

Posted on 03/07/2009 12:16:38 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president has facing exhaustion over America's economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told.

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

A British official conceded that the furore surrounding the apparent snub to Mr Brown had come as a shock to the White House. "I think it's right to say that their focus is elsewhere, on domestic affairs. A number of our US interlocutors said they couldn't quite understand the British concerns and didn't get what that was all about."

Can you imagine what a fiasco we’ll be in six months from now?

Unfortunately, yes I can. I just hope my recent purchases have arrived by then. :( But if they haven't I've got plenty of "old stuff" to make do. (One of those pieces of old stuff dates to WW-II, but the fodder I recently got for it is only months old)

We are headed for 15% unemployment. The definition of a depression is 15% unemployment. Where I live, we are already at 12%. What does Mama O do? He says we have to lhave universal health care and embryonic stem cell research, neither of which will do a thing for economic growth. We are in for perhaps an economic situation that could possibly result in a serious world realignment, to our detriment, and we have a 47 year old POTUS who has no pep.

“But, it is surprising that “sources close to the White House” are actually saying this out loud to someone. Why?”

Hillary?

Seems he wasted all the fake interest he could muster during his world tour.

Poor baby. He didn’t look tired while he was campaigning and setting up his fleece job.

He isn’t too tired to party and whoop it up with his lib commie bastard buddies.

He isn’t too tired to keep him from flying all over at tax payer expense.

He isn’t too tired to keep him from jaunting off for dinner two weeks ago.

Yup, 48. What about those of us out here who are a lot older who hit it hard every day?

Stupid, lazy, good for nothing, whining, petulant, puss sucking, leech, commie.

Ben Franklin was right about that early to bed, early to rise thing. Not that Obozo would listen to wisdom of the ages.

That right there, is the whole problem with the Left. History teaches us that some things work, and others do not.

They just can't get that through their heads.

It would be like, "Can't we wait until Monday to bomb Hanoi...I'm tired."

He wouldn't have bombed Hanoi. Saigon maybe, but not Hanoi.

There is no older secretary. They fired all the permanent staff and installed their inner circle and friends thereof.

I would rather he walk off the job. Did anyone hear President Bush whine when he was President of the USA?

Early to bed, early to rise ...

Some of that change in appearance is due to the strains of the job, but the knee in the age degeneration curve is also about where "W" was during his Presidency. Of course that varies from person to person.

Yeah, but if he resigns, we really get the booby prize in Plugs. I have never seen such a FUBAR situation since Carter, and I believe Mama O will even out-Carter that nitwit.

Just catching up on all things FR so I'm sure someone already said this but Obama sure has the energy to party on Wednesday nights at the White House. What a weasel.

Now I am off to find out why it took Obama over a week to rebuke his AG calling America a nation of cowards. Talk about cowards.
