They're revolting. Families with children, bikers, seniors, pirates - by the thousands descended on a Fullerton bar Saturday to join talk show hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou of KFI in protesting tax increases recently approved in Sacramento.
Police estimated that some 8,000 people came to the Slidebar Café in downtown Fullerton to listen to The John & Ken Show.
"I expected a lot and it was way more than I expected," said co-host John Kobylt. The talk show hosts put forward an ambitious goal for their Tax Revolt 2009 live broadcast that ran for more than three hours.
"The purpose is to vote down Prop 1A on May 19 because it's a two-year tax extension," said Kobylt. "The purpose is to tell people how their Republican legislators lie about their votes. The purpose is to get support to recall Schwarzennegger, (Assemblyman) Anthony Adams, (Assemblyman) Jeff Miller, and everybody else."
Some wore buttons. One man brought a bloody effigy head of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and waved it from the end of a pike, while the crowd joined their hosts in a chant of "Repeal, recall, revolt."
Many in the crowd held up cameras to capture a big hit as VHS cassettes, DVDs, laser discs, an action hero lunchbox and other memorabilia from the governor's Hollywood career, were piled up and smashed with a sledgehammer.
Johanna Common, 45, of Fullerton, pushed her way to the front of the crowd to contribute her copy of the Schwarzenegger movie "Total Recall" to the pile.
"I wanted to see it smashed to smithereens," she said. When all is done, Common plans to get involved in recalling her local representative, Assemblyman Michael Duvall, she said.
Like many others, Kimberly Smith, 29, of Tustin, sported a button showing how much more she'll have to pay...

It’ll be posted somewhere. Early thinking is 4/15 along with the rest of the country.

Tea Party in Olathe today
These voices need to eventually brought to the gates of the Whitehouse so Obama can hear loud and clear!
Not a peep out of the LA Times. I guess they think if they don’t report on the event, it makes it like it never even happened.
But word got out anyway, lol.
NO! Say it ain't so!
“One man brought a bloody effigy head of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and waved it from the end of a pike”
...I would gladly take part in something like this and I have, but wouldn’t a “bloody effigy” be a little worrisome for the bloke who brought it? Dems CAN and DO similar and worse. Conservatives usually get the SS visit or the IRS audit.
Not only did they bring an effigy of Ahnuld, but they brought it up on stage and DECAPITATED it.
“DECAPITATED it”
...holy smokes! I guess I’d join in if it were a crowd. Not want to be the only one audited or have home searched for Ahnuld “hate” paraphernalia.
There were 15,000 people there. They can’t audit all of us.
With the crap Barry and gang are going to pull, look for this across America. (wondering why it hasn’t happened already)
Very impressive gathering of souls. (especially for Cali)
This is two weekends in a row with significant tea parties. I suspect the pace will pick up.

Oregon Tea Party — Call for county coordinators
From what has been reported about them from other KFI hosts, John & Ken (or at least John) fake interest in what might be considered conservative causes to grow their audience. But this time at least they’re doing something helpful whether they (particularly John) actually believe in it! (I went to a protest against illegals in Burbank one weekend that they had created, but it was not on radio or TV - Ken attended and was very nice; John did not attend.)

Thank you for your advice. I shall sit at home and lament.
April 15 is emerging as a big day in the Tea Party movement. I’m picturing 500,000 people in DC, yelling “Jimmy Carter.” (He hates being compared to Jimmy Carter.) A convoy of semis could slow the city down pretty well, and I’m sure we could find truckers. Talk radio would help us out, too. Jerry Doyle was going crazy about the “don’t go to Las Vegas” bit this weekend. We might be able to get Santelli to appear or even Rush. We’d want to get Jimrob’s thoughts too. It’s on a Wednesday and so taxpayers might have to work, but there’s a big population from the surrounding area. Maybe we could find a way for people who have to work to participate. (Alternatively, the Saturday before is April 11, which is also Easter weekend.) Could you work up a post and ping the tea party list re April 15 in DC? We still have time to brainstorm this. We could call it “The Mother of All Tea Parties.” This is really going viral. I’m hearing from Obama voters, and neighbors contacting us out of the blue re 4/15 who are definitely not Republicans.
