Children With [Diabetes] Look Forward To Obama's Expected Lifting Of Ban On Stem Cell Research

New York, NY (AHN) - President Barack Obama's expected lifting of the ban on stem cell research Monday is good news for those with Type 1 juvenile diabetes and their parents.

That's because researchers think that embryonic stem cells could be capable of replicating the pancreatic cells that produce insulin. When pancreatic cells are transplanted they effectively cure Type 1 diabetics. But with donor organs in short supply there are not enough donor pancreases to meet demand.

About 1.5 million Americans have Type 1 diabetes, but there are only about 6,000 donor pancreases each year.

Although there is a debate about the ethics of embryonic stem cell research, some proponents argue that it is unethical not to use stem cell research in an attempt to find cures for diseases such as Type 1 juvenile diabetes, Parkinson's disease and others.

So why stop killing them when they are embryos. let them grow to full term that way you have a real pancreas.

Do these people even have a soul left?

Why do they keep chasing these embryonic stem cell theories when stem cells from other sources have proven to be far superior? It's maddening!

The truth does not matter. Not only are tax dollars to be used for this immoral research, tax dollars are to be used to propagandize in support of it as well.

There is no ban on embryonic stem cell research. For the first time, Bush allowed federal funding of embryonic stem cell research but limited it to the existing lines. The private sector has always been free to do such research. What Obama is doing is expanding the amount of money spent and allowing new lines to be introduced.

If this area was so fruitful, the private sector would be pouring huge amounts of money into it. They are not. Adult stem cell research is providing greater promise and results. The MSM has got the facts wrong again.

No kidding. If the Free Market WANTED this, nay, NEEDED, this harvesting of the unborn for medical research, then it would’ve found a way to do it without additional tax dollars.

Government financially supports Evil with our tax dollars.

Every day, these lunatics give me yet another reason to produce less tax dollars for them. Just when I think I can’t go any further underground economically, they provide a new incentive for me to keep on digging!

I thought they had recently found a way to harvest stem cells from adult blood and there wouldn’t be a need to destroy embryos any more.

Plus there was a recent article indicating Type 1 diabetes appears to be caused by a virus and research to block and treat that virus appears to be promising.

I have a modest proposal

maybe they should grow those embryos into babies, then take their pancreases and other body parts

Seriously, embryonic cell treatments have led only to tumors in kids and grave untreatable neuro damage to adults
whereas treatments with adult or ones own stem cells have shown great promise

http://www.lifeissues.org/cloningstemcell/bradsarticle.html

so yeah, obama, lets make that life and death decisions despite your pay grade

lets divert research money and effort away from what is working and let doctors who are not hindered by “political ideology” tear apart more embryos

quite a binge to look forward to

We are already providing federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. It started under Bush. The issue has been the amount of money and expanding the number of “lines.”

There IS no f***ing "ban" on "stem cell research", you stupid tw*t! (the author, not you, Diana)

There is a ban on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. But advocates of this evil don't want us to see those distinctions.

Their minds are made up. Don't confuse them with the facts.

They are looking forward to it up to a point. If and when they produce new treatments from the stem cell research, the devaluing of life will not end. The Obama administration will do a cost-benefit analysis and may very well decide that the very sick children are not worth burdening the socialized healthcare system. As a result, they will refuse to offer the treatments anyway.
