Ron Paul, old coot who warned of economic turmoil, thinks he was right
LA Times ^ | 3/5/09 | Andrew Malcom

Remember Ron Paul? Congressman Ron Paul?

The long-term libertarian-like representative from Texas who's even older than McCain? The guy with a leased blimp who sought the Republican presidential nomination last year and came within something like 1,000 delegates of upsetting the Arizonan.

Paul lasted a lot longer than Romney, who had to write off some $40 million of his own dough.

And Paul's hundreds of thousands of dedicated supporters way-outraised that preacher Huckabee who's now all over Fox News, which, btw, is the network that barred Paul from its New Hampshire GOP debate because he had no chance. Although, to be fair and balanced, Paul had done better in Iowa than Giuliani or that D.A. Thompson guy, what's his name Frank or Fred. Thank goodness Fox protected its viewers from this Texan, who used to be an ob-gyn.

So Paul marched all the way to St. Paul, past that ex-New York mayor, who the mainstream media said was the certain GOP nominee until he wasn't; Giuliani made it only a few hours past Florida.

Here's how silly Ron Paul is: He set a budget for his campaign and lived within it. Flew commercial. Stayed at Super 8's. No motorcades.

In fact, he ended with no deficit, which is how he thinks the federal government should operate.

In point of fact, Paul ended his campaign with a surplus. Can you imagine anything so silly in this day and age?

"Not just one, but multiple earmarks attached. As always."

Wow, Mr. "Not gonna waste Taxpayer Money" sucks at the tit with the best of them.

Why am I not surprised at such.

Frankly, as ridiculous as many earmarks are, it is small potatoes compared to the POS $410 billion socialist turd they are attached to.

Well, I think have to give McCain his dues, even though I think he is dead wrong on many many things the guy at least talks his talk and walks his walk on earmarks.

I agree totally. What really irks me is these Damn Repoublicans tell us all that the Omnibus Bill is sucking the blood of American taxpayers yet they line up to suckle with the rest of the Vampires.

I had heard that there is some sort of rule that the opposition party gets 40% of the earmarks.

L Ron Paul, the 9/11 Truther thinks your neighborhood
was a gov. set up on that day.
His friends, Jones and Rockwell are out of the Third Reich days of the 30s

and then L Ron doesn’t believe we should fight the IslamOfascists.

L Ron Paul’s views on the economy - They make pockets in shrouds

Someone was trying to convince me Ron Paul had a large earmark attached to the Omnibus Bill but I can find no record of such. Does anyone know if its true?

It's been Paul's practice for some years to load up appropriations bills with as much pork as possible for his district...then vote against them on the floor.

This practice allows him to have it both ways.

I thought Ron Paul’s prognostication was that we’d have runnaway inflation as a result of all this.

Coming soon to a pocket near your nether regions.

RP would rather ignore the rest of the world for as long as humanly possible.

You say that like it is a bad thing.

Kinda nutty (actually, a LOT nutty) to compare Jefferson to the Paulestinian.

Ted Kennedy still has a seat and vote in the Senate, even though his brain was fried decades ago and is currently being rapidly replaced by cancer cells.

Kinda nutty.

You said — “Why are you spamming every thread with this?”

Ummm..., 113 posts of mine, in this length of time, of which, the following five posts made note of the “100-day Ultimatum to Obama from Europe”

‘Difficult’ Americans hamper G20 efforts to secure a global deal

Ron Paul, old coot who warned of economic turmoil, thinks he was right

Inventory Of Used Office Cubicles Rise In U.S. As Companies Close

Fresh pessimism sweeps over credit sector

The Next Hit: Quick Defaults

You’ll notice that they relate to the financial crisis and this thread

Update on Global Government [Europe gives Obama a 100-day Ultimatum]
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2203045/posts

— explains a part of what was said in those five threads, and what is coming up shortly — in the way of Obama receiving demands that the U.S. give up sovereignty in its finances (in a 100-day deadline) — which will result in a bigger crash than we’ve seen to this date.

That should make it clear enough to you... LOL...

"Truthers" may support Ron Paul, but I've never heard Ron Paul echo their viewpoints.

There are some things that Paul has said that I'm sure would raise many conservative eyebrows. However, he's always told the truth and been rational. I'm not sure I blame any American who doesn't understand his language, because it's not laced with the untruths that we've been force fed for generations.

Ron Paul's reputation for nuttiness comes almost exclusively from his views on foreign policy, which comes from traditional non-interventionism (and slides into 'blame America firstism'). However, Ron Paul's views on 'money' is rock solid.

Ron Paul knows that 'fiat money', ie paper money backed by thin air is and was always unsustainable. He's known for decades, that the US Dollar, once separated from gold was doomed. The only question was when and how fast. Well, Obama has put the pedal to the metal to destroy the dollar.

Trillions is new spending, trillions in deficits, trillions in new spending commitments. The dollar is doomed. We ought to begin now to think about what's heading down the rails to us, how to handle it and how to get out of it. Ron Paul has been decades ahead of the curve and he ought to be listened to on monetary policy. Ignore him on foreign policy, listen to him on money. The rest of the Congress is clueless.

Maybe, but he would have been GREAT as Treasury Secretary in ANY Republican administration. And I'll say here and now, I would take him in a heartbeat over this king wannabe.

Man what a kook!

You are right - he's terrible! Any chance of getting him locked up?

He keeps trying to oppose more debts and wild spending. He warns about inflation, too.

A dangerous madman.
