Report: Bristol Palin and Fiancé Split
TODAY ^ | 03.11.09 | STAFF

The pair, parents to 2-month-old son Tripp, broke up 'a few weeks ago'

Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston have broken up, two sources tell PEOPLE.

The split happened "a few weeks ago," according to a source close to the couple, but it's unclear what precipitated it. "It was a mutual thing," adds the source.

"It kind of just happened," says the source, referring to the split. "I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp."

Despite the breakup, Levi still sees the couple's son. Levi's dad, Keith Johnston, told PEOPLE recently that his son is a devoted and "proud father."

Bristol, meanwhile, is attending Wasilla High, taking a class to supplement course work she is completing at home. She also is considering enrolling in college next fall and studying nursing.

>>AKA the father. Or don’t you think one of those is important? <<

A father is VERY important.
A married mother to the father is extremely important.

If the mother can’t provide that, give the baby to a family that can.

Sarah's not going anywhere.

Or so you hope... Wait until SarahPAC releases it's funds raised and Palin tours the US to prop up conservative candidates. Then you can see where she is going, despite your squalid wishes for her to fail.

Bristol keeps opening her mouth with cameras around

Was the sister of her fiance..as quoted..not Bristol. Give the girl a break. I have my own values as a conservative, and some I read here I find are a real turn off to truly good people who would vote Republican as most of us are "living" in reality while others live in their private oasis of a fantasy party.

“Monogamy, marital chastity and fidelity ARE the conservative positions.”

it is not enough to simply be “pro-life.” After all, Ceausescu was also against abortion and Romania was overrun with orphan zombies.

The quickest way to screw a situation up is to let a politician anywhere near it.

Even if they had eventually married it wouldn't have worked. So loud mouth Bristol, is she still defending promiscuity?

Regardless, this household doesn't have Palin family values.

Yes, it is a shame Bristol is in the spotlight. However, she chose to be in the spotlight during the election. The spotlight is not something you can enter and then exit on your own.

The baby has a complete family: the Palins.

I'm sorry, but I am so sick of people on FR advocating taking children away from a single parent environment and putting them with strangers. This sounds exactly like what the British government is already doing. I understand that yes, in the ideal situation, a child should have a mother and father. But advocating removing the child when the situation isn't ideal without any evidence of a lack of care, etc.? Come on.

>>Who are you to decide that?!<<

If a mother truly loves her child, the decision to give the baby up for adoption to an intact family is the most selfless act she can do.

Unless of course we want to cheer unwed moms keeping their babies. Look at the stats. The Palin Grandchild will turn out okay, but most kids of single women don’t.

Are we really “Pro-Life” or just “Anti-Abortion”? If we are truly Pro-Life, we need to start encouraging a good life for the children of women who were wise enough not to abort.

I’ll accept apologies from the defenders of Levi and Bristol’s “true love and commitment” on this or any related thread.

Because of some tabloid gossip? You'll get something different than an "apology"... how about a wholesome "take a hike"?

I remember what it's like to be a 17-18 yr old man (sic)-- there's just too many women to make your head turn. Near impossible to stay faithful at that age.

That's the difference between a boy and a man. A man cultivates fidelity, honor, trustworthiness, self-discipline. A boy cares nothing about such things.

Two teenagers made a mistake and got pregnant. Why compound the mistake by marrying at 16 or whatever they are?
We need to get rid of the idea that getting married just because of an accidental pregnancy is “the right thing to do.” Often just leads to more misery for everyone involved.

Ya but how can you be a man until you sex a bunch of girls and find out that no matter how hot they may be-- they eventually become annoying-- and, therefore, it's not worth it to cheat?

No, you were the one who said they should have got married when they found out she was pregnant. Clearly, they weren’t ready, as is the case now if the story is true.

Out of bullets, eh?

Well the ad hominems will probably cover your lack of argument for a few posts, I suppose.

Look at the stats on how many people currently in prison come from single parent homes.

Are you really saying that adoptive parents cannot love a child as much as a parent? Really?

A married mother to the father is extremely important.

Up to the father if he wants to be involved. Closeness geographically, he should be able to be.

There are great kids out there in single "loving" homes and "destructive" homes where both birth parents live under one roof.

Reality..

You are incredibly naive to believe that a child will automatically have the same beliefs/values etc. as the parent. What an ideal world you must live in.
