I’ve got a serious problem with these guys naming themselves after African tyrants: “Kwame” (Kwame Nkrumah—post independence ruler of Ghana, who managed to trash his country in a few years), “Kenyatta” (Jomo Kenyatta—who founded the Mau-Mau terrorist movement and took over by default when the Brits left).
It bespeaks a willful ignorance of history.

Was it not Coleman Young who pretty much chased business out of the city.
This guy comes across as one of the two who could be classified as adults on the Detroit City Council. I’ll look forward to learning more about him.
Detroit needs to get rid of the high powered mayor and appoint a heartless CEO and a CFO.

This is Monica Conyers - wife of Congress Critter Conyers..
She now serves on the council while under FBI investigation on "serveral matters" of corruption.

Give the guy a break. To me, he seems like one of the good guys on the council. That is a huge job without a lot of hope for success and God bless someone with integrity who wants to take it on.

My guess is he could take votes away from Bing a business man, and get Cockrel in. I am beginning to think Cockrel is part of the problem, and an insider doup, to keep the dysfunction going.Where as Bing would bring change that might even make Steve Forbes happy...
Hahahahaha! That was my reaction too! Actually, the spirit of Young (the Young Spirit?) has been dominating Detroit since those halcyon days of yore. It’s just been the normal devolution of putrid ideas that has occurred as Detroit bleeds away into nothingness (it’s halfway there already). Kwame Kilpatrick is Coleman Young. What’s the difference?
