Webster's dictionary redefines 'marriage'
WorldNetDaily ^ | March 17, 2009 | Bob Unruh

One of the nation's most prominent dictionary companies has resolved the argument over whether the term "marriage" should apply to same-sex duos or be reserved for the institution that has held families together for millennia: by simply writing a new definition.

"I was shocked to see that Merriam-Webster changed their definition of the word 'marriage,' a word which has referred exclusively to a contract between a man and a woman for centuries. It has now added same sex," YouTube user Eric B. noted to WND.

"The 1992 Webster's Dictionary does not mention same sex at all," he wrote.

He created a YouTube video illustrating his concerns, which has been embedded here...

He who controls the language controls not only dialog, but thought as well.

Yes, the homo-nazis beat down the APA until they caved in and removed homosexuality from the list of mental disorders. They'll do it in every other arena, too.

Western Civilization is destroying itself by discarding Judeo Christian values rather than fighting for them.

Islam is not watering down their values and eventually may win and they will put an end to this nonsense.

The old one I’m familiar with was: “a contractual arrangement between a man and a woman which societies everywhere institute for the protection of women and children.”

Noah Webster would be outraged that’s for sure.

Once you control language, you influence what people believe. Then it’s all downhill from there.

I support biblical (traditional) marriage.

That said, I have never bought into the “for creating children” argument. That would mean that those who are sterile or past childbearing years shouldn’t marry, which I don’t think is true.

Noah Webster, the lexicographer, claimed to have coined only one word — demoralize, which he defined: "To corrupt or undermine the morals of; to destroy or lessen the effect of moral principles on; to render corrupt in morals."
Today the field of lexicography has been demoralized by those who would make "contemporary usage" and "slang" a standard of reference for students in our schools. Pornographic terminology has come to have educational significance in state schools where Dictionary of American Slang has received academic acceptance.
Noah Webster recognized that each age is subject to the demoralization of its language by the "literary" or "modish" segment of society. Thus he put, as a check and balance upon each other, universal undisputed practice and the common law of language, or established principles of analogy. Change for the sake of change, vulgarity, cant, slang for its own sake, was to Webster like the principle of motion in physics — if not controlled it became the principle of destruction. Thus "expressions peculiar to, and generally understood only by, members of a particular sect, class, or occupation; as (a) a secret jargon of thieves, tramps, etc., (b) the special idiom of a profession or trade, or (c) a mode of talking used merely out of convention; esp., the insincere use of pious phraseology" found no place in Webster's dictionaries.

You will also find the word, "ain't"

Indeed. That bygone phrase, "Ain't isn't a word!" was always hogwash to me. I tell my kids that if you can say it and it has meaning to you then it is a word.

marriage |ˈmarij| noun 1 the formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife. • a similar long-term relationship between partners of the same sex. • a relationship between married people or the period for which it lasts : a happy marriage | the children from his first marriage. ------------------------------ Above is from online dictionary. I prefer the traditional definition, but not sure it really matters much if one cuts through all the noise.

Globalist & Marxist in particular hate the idea of children and family units. In fact the ultimate extension of “equality” or rather “egalitarianism” and by extension multiculturalism is to destroy it all. That which makes us strong and stands in the way of the global “utopia”. They hate biological families(race) which begets strong communities which begets strong nations. Since the beginning of mankind family units which leads to real communities and ultimately a nation has always been our strength. The ultimate goal here so that we can all be “equal” is to have no religion, no race, no gender, no families(easy divorce and heavily promote abortion)& ultimately no nationalities. We can all good little worker widgets and consumers that have no ties or bounds except to the global concept of “everyman” & “equality”.

Where is Nero Wolfe when we need him?

His knowledge of words is as comprehensive as his knowledge of food and plants. He does not bow to the dictionary either. When he paid $47.50 for a new edition and it said the words infer and imply were interchangeable, he took it to the fireplace in the front room, tore it apart, and burned it, cover and all. He considered it subversive because it threatened the integrity of the English language. He said he was not a government or a committee of censors. Having paid for the book and finding it subversive and intolerably offensive, he destroyed it. (Gambit)

His legman Archie Goodwin pointed out that Wolfe must have known he would be burning the book, as he purchased the cheaper Buckram edition in stead of the leather-bound one.

Daniel too. Daniel Webster took on the devil in a battle of wits you know.

Wikipedia;
“The Devil and Daniel Webster” is a short story by Stephen Vincent Benét. This retelling of the classic German Faust tale is based on the short story “The Devil and Tom Walker”, written by Washington Irving. Benet’s version of the story centers on a New Hampshire farmer who sells his soul to the Devil and is defended by Daniel Webster.
