I think this whole bonus business with AIG is another orchestrated situation by Obama. He wants people to despise Wall Street who his supporters equate with Rich Republicans. The more it looks like the rich are making money, the more those who believe they are the "entitled" will support Obama.

He wanted this to erupt, so he could make it look like he was against it…and will, eventually, take claim of any measures to resolve it. The general public will believe he has stood up for them, and they will forget (or won’t believe) that he was the one who had the loophole inserted in the Stimulus plan in the first place that allowed these bonuses. And, this happening now gives the people something to focus on rather than the larger issue – that is how Obama is destroying this country and capitalism here.

It is just like the October Fannie/Freddie collapse. That was planned by the Dems to erupt then just at a crucial moment in the campaign, in order that Obama could be made to look like he was the candidate who could solve that mess.

Nothing like this happens that hasn’t been planned by the politicians involved (or should I say actors) who all know that if you give the general public something to rage about that they can understand, (as was done in Rome with the masses – they were “treated” to the games in the coliseum to take their minds off their miseries) you can get away with other things you don’t want them to know.

It doesn’t matter to the Dems if one or any of them is implicated in these schemes. They know Obama will protect them and they will just go on as usual. They are all willing to take the fall or blame for a moment, because their dear Obama has them covered.

It's all a distraction from the real problems.

Chris Dodd is the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and getting hundreds of thousands of dollars from the industry that he is supposed to be regulating.

Barney Frank is lobbying hard for Fanny Mae and is getting hundreds of thousand back from them.

John Murtha is collecting bribes and laundering the money by having people make campaign contributions and then reimbursing them with the bribe money.

Obama recieves over $100,000 from AIG and then signs special legislation that provides them with billions in taxpayer money and allows the executives who ran it into the ground to collect millions in bonuses.

Somehow I'm sure that it's all Bush's fault. ;o)

I remember during the Carter fiasco, Time and Newsweak would have stories like: “Has the Presidency grown to be too big a job for one person?”

Then came ol’ Ron—no more stories.

1970s-1980s journalists said New York City was “ungovernable”— before Rudy went ahead and did it.

Last September there were plenty of Freepers arguing that it every other business could go pound sand, as long as we saved a half dozen big investment banks.

I asked them repeatedly if it was OK with them for a Democrat administration to get the same kind of power and blank check they wanted to give to Paulson.

The answer was always "Yes! We've got to save the investment banks! Sweet Jesus, save the suffering banks, or we'll all be living in refrigerator cartons and fighting over roadkill!!"

Those Freepers and their sentiments are noticeably not very much in evidence lately.

Dontcha know, he's “good at it”. He gets to explain his final four picks on national television. He gets to go on Jay Leno. He gets to preempt American Idol. He gets to dye the White House fountains green. He gets to give money to his cronies. He gets a new book deal. He gets to jet across the country whenever he pleases. He gets to go to Chicago, no make that Camp David for spring break with his kids. He gets to have neat people like Stevie Wonder and Brad Pitt and George Clooney come to his house and party.

The whole point is: Dodd put the bonuses in the stimulus package to begin with. He knew damn well they were there! Dodd and Obama were number 1 and 2 on the list of AIG’s recipients of campaign donations! WHY IN HELL ISN’T THE DAMN MEDIA REPORTING THIS! Now Obama has the balls to condem the bonuses he knew were put in there by his clown?
What in hell is going on? do these idiots know people with an IQ of a rock can figure their dog and pony show out?

Damn right. The president should take a stronger stand against the bonuses. The absolute hubris is amazing.

Let us not forget that President Obama received a bonus of $101,000 from AIG. IS he planning to return his???

You forgot to mention the taxpayer funded $100/lb. Wagyu beef Super Bowl party that he threw for Washington insiders, even as he was too busy to visit the heartland in the wake of a major ice storm disaster that killed 42 people and left millions without water or power in Tennessee and Kentucky.

Well, that was his real campaign slogan:

“It’s the American people’s fault. They have a malaise.”

I remember that speech well — “theyuh is a crahsus of confi-dunce.”

Sad thing is: the zer0 is going to make Jimmuh look presidential by comparison.

I read the article and there is not a single Republican that doesn’t shoulder some of the blame. Why in the hell is anyone of them even voting on a bill that they haven’t had time to read? UNBELIEVABLE!!! That is nothing short of criminal in my opinion. If they don’t read them, and fully understand them, they should NEVER EVER vote on anything until they do. This is what should cause the most outrage at this circus in DC.

umm... if there is $800 billion in cash... and we produce another $1 trillion... doesn’t that dilute my holdings by 50%? wouldn’t it also drive up inflation by roughly the same amount?
