Help me out here folks Could he really be this stupid????

Now Obama has insulted French President Sarkozy!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh no! Obama sent a letter to Chirac, saying he looks forward to working with him the next four years. Le Figaro, French newspaper is horrified at the faux pas. Doesn't Obama ever consult his staff before acting? Sarkozy is the President there! It's like Sarko writing to George Bush and saying he looks forward to working with him. Chirac is the FORMER president.

Here is a translation of the letter in Le Figaro:

Vendredi 20 mars 2009 OBAMA PREFERS CHIRAC !

Barack Obama does not seem to know that in May 2007, French voters elected Nicolas Sarkozy to the French presidency, to succeed Jacques Chirac who had been president for twelve years.

Yesterday, we told you Sarkozy is irritated because Mister O. refuses to tell him if he will accept to meet him personally in the next few months.

Strangely, we have just learnt this surprising piece of news :

Barack Obama wrote a letter to Jacques Chirac to tell him about his desire to "work with him" for the next four years ! In a letter described by Chirac as "very nice," Obama wrote, "I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world." The use of the word "peace" was taken to be an indirect reference to Chirac's stance against the US intervention in Iraq, which Obama had also opposed.

This revelation was made by the online edition of the daily Le Figaro on Thursday.

Vendredi 20 mars 2009 OBAMA PREFERS CHIRAC !

So, if I understand well, Mister O., who has already despised Gordon Brown, behaving with him as if he did not know he is Prime Minister of Britain, does not even know the name of the French president.

I wonder if someone had told him, when he came to France last summer, that the man he met was NOT Jacques Chirac !

In any case, for Sarko, the blow must be terrible : he has tried to persuade Obama to invite him in Washington for months, and now he learns that his predecessor might soon be Obama's guest at the White House before him ! http://europumas.over-blog.com/article-29271371.html edited to add the original french article: http://www.lefigaro.fr/actualites/20...es-chirac-.php

“The British.

The French.

Shame on you, Mr. Obama.”

Obama is merely following the standard Democrat foreign policy of trashing our friends, and rewarding our enemies.

We know 0bama is not as smart as he likes everyone to believe he is, because we see through him. He can not fool us, unlike the lame stream media and the left.

Imagine what the outrage would be like if Germany's Angela Merkle sent a letter like this to George Bush, going around Obama.

What would the MSM say about that?

Sarah Palin never said that she could see Russia from Wassila. That was Tina Faye who said that. What Sarah Palin said was that you can see part of Russia from Alaska.

I think you are correct. I don't know how to get my computer to translate but this is it:

Barack Obama a écrit à Jacques Chirac

It’s obvious who is behind the many diplomatic gaffes of the new administration: Bill Clinton.

No, you are correct. The issue is not whether or not Barack Obama erroneously believes that Jacques Chirac is the President of France. Barack Obama & his staff are not brain-dead, they know full well that Sarkozy is the President of France.

The issue is that Barack Obama has been snubbing the (relatively) conservative & pro-American Sarkozy since his election, but has nonetheless somehow found the time to lavishly laud Sarkozy's predecessor Chirac & convey his hopes that "I am certain that we will be able to work together, in the coming four years, in a spirit of peace and friendship to build a safer world. "

In other words, since his election, Barack Obama has been pointedly loathe to give Sarkozy the time of day, but somehow has carved out of his schedule the time to extend this hearts-and-flowers courtesy to the out-of-power Saddam-loving President who was such a thorn in the side of the United States. Sarkozy, the very man who does America a huge favor at great political risk to himself by putting France back up for full-membership with NATO and thereby lessening America's obligations to that organization, is inexplicably given a diplomatic slap in the face by this administration.

That's why people who follow French politics are clucking: Not because they think Obama doesn't know who the French President is (clearly he does), but because this seems to have been a calculated slight to Sarkozy. It's as if the next PM of Great Britain were, after his election, to ostentatiously ignore Obama & then write an effusive note to George W. Bush expressing his fondest hopes that they can work well together for the duration of his term.

Diplomatically, it's just bizarrely gratuitous insult. And Obama knew full well he was writing to the former President. Indeed, Obama's full awareness of that fact was required for him to properly convey this contrived insult to Sarkozy.

True Story: I took the word of my Instructor as truth..now, I don’t know...

My spanish instructor from college lived in mexico for a period of time to help herself become more fluent in the language, and educated about the culture. She told us that if we visit mexico and someone asks where we are from, (this was over 10 yrs ago mind you) to say North America..not America. She said they consider themselves south americans. I had never thought about it before.
