Obama Youth Brigade: Church Attendance Forbidden
By Jonas Clark

Is this the change you really voted for? President Obama has only been in office for two months. Now we have HR 1388. The Bill was sponsored by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) with 37 others. The Bill was introduced to the floor of the House of Representatives where both Republicans and Democrats voted 321-105 in favor. Next it goes to the Senate for a vote and then on to President Obama.

This bill’s title is called “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education” (GIVE). It forms what some are calling “Obama’s Youth Brigade.” Obama’s plan is require anyone receiving school loans and others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade. His goal is one million youth! This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it.

The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in “engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.” That means no church attendance or witnessing.

Again, is this what America voted for? Here is part of the HR1388 Bill’s wording:

SEC. 1304. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.

Section 125 (42 U.S.C. 12575) is amended to read as follows:

SEC. 125. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.

(a) Prohibited Activities- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities:

(1) Attempting to influence legislation.

(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.

(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.

Funny thing, I do not see any “mandatory volunteerism” for those able-bodied individuals on the welfare rolls.

These kinds of rules, when in the federal employment package, mean 24/7.

It prohibits Mormon Missionaries from being Mormon Missionaries during their period of involuntary servitude.

Really doesn't sound progressive at all.

Even soldiers and civil servants have their First Amendment rights at all times. Soldiers sometimes following protocols to exercise them difficult but they are not denied those rights.

Apparently you need to read the TEXT of the bill.

Illegal or not this is knocking on the door and only awaits the Vote by the Senate.

This does not surprise me. With all the changes that he has made with such rapid succession, it was just a matter of time.

What we have here is an obligation incurred by way of acquiring/qualifying for government insured student debt.

If you do so you owe this additional "interest" (in sweat equity). If you don't care to do the work, or you find that it conflicts with your religious obligations or beliefs, then you can't get the loans, or if you do, not at the lower rate.

That means you must pay more for the same privilege as those who own the state.

The Moslems call this a "jizra", or surtax, on non-Moslems.

Somehow I'm not surprised at all to see the jizra popping up in this regime's bundle of goodies.

I didn’t have any illusions about obama and his agenda. I’m just surprised that he’s implementing it so quickly and so overtly. And this ban on religious participation is just horrifying. I guess obama and his crew think they can get away with it.

Please see this Thread:

From the Thread:
==snip==
The 79-19 roll call by which the Senate voted Thursday to triple the size of the AmeriCorps and broadly expand incentives for students and seniors to give back to their communities.

On this vote, a "yes" vote was a vote to pass the bill.

Voting "yes" were 55 Democrats and 22 Republicans and 2 independents.

A sad day for America!

but what might Muslims say about this?

Most likely they will be given exemptions. They may even allow their call to pray to be heard 3 times a day. I would be surprised if they didn't. Hopefully the whole thing will never happen. It will take God's miracles to stop this train from coming. Pray like your life and liberty depended on it because in this world it does.
