It may be closer to the Young Pioneers of Soviet Russia than to the Hitler Youth. Either is negative.

Hitler Youth. I swear this man is scary as ach-ee-double toothpicks — and I mean that quite literally. My daughter had to read about Hitler Youth in school this year — it will be interesting to see if she sees the similarities.

The bill forbids proselytizing and engaging in any activity that promotes any religion. It does not prohibit church attendance.

It DOES prohibit church attendance. The next sentence applies to being the teacher and being the taught...as in sitting/participating in a worship service or being up front and ministering in any way. Probably even includes singing.

"Engaging in religious instruction."

If anyone doubted that the Dems are fascists and not liberals, those doubts should be gone now.

I called my two (so called Republican) Senators. It makes me sick to have to call Mitch McConnell. He is spineless and worthless.

Republicans should be on the steps of the capital right now having a news conference about this. They are too damn dumb to even take this to the public forum and make everyone in this country aware of this attack on religion (and free speech).

I am angry, but truthfully, I am frightened to the core, plain and simple.

Jeez, even convicts have a right to practice their religion as they see fit. To me, instructing classes or performing services is part of practicing your religion. Not allowing you to do that is limiting access to your religion, and a violation of your freedom to worship the religion of your choice. Afterall, many people feel the need to participate in their place of worship in other ways besides just attending services. And how can they force you to exclude yourself from attending protests (peaceful assembly), sign petitions, participate in boycotts or strikes? Again, a violation of your constitutional rights.

“Don’t get me wrong, I think this whole GIVE/Obama Youth thing is creepy, but this prohibition is only for when the little dears are on the govt clock.”

“On the govt. clock” ???

Does that mean then that participants must only refrain from influencing legislation while they are on the clock? Does that mean that they must refrain from engaging in protests, strikes, petitions, etc. only when they are on the clock?

As posted here, it is worded to broadly for safety. It still needs to be seriously challenged.

Now, if the programs are only mandatory for those who accept government-backed education loans, etc., then my children will not be required.

We have two degreed young people thus far in among our children, and neither one of them borrowed money to earn their accredited degrees. They followed my instruction. I earned all the way through an accredited doctorate without borrowing a dime.

Of course, a pioneering spirit, and a willingness to change locations when necessary helps. Building one’s own home (with one’’s own hands and just a little help in labor from skilled family and friends) on a vacant lot over a two year period without a mortgage helped.

But I believe that from here on in, if people want freedom, they are going to have to ignore the system more than they do.

Don’t borrow. Don’t be in bondage. Don’t sign contracts that might obligate you to government stipulations.

Sure! You don’t get to live in a fancy indebted house quickly like your acquaintances do. Sure, you might have to sleep on a matress on the floor until you can pay cash for the bed frame. Sure. You may look backward to your extended family. Sure, your college degreee might have to wait five extra years.

Sure. Besides using your computer, you might have to learn to use a saw, a drill, a hammer, etc. Sure. You might have to do odd jobs for some years to put the groceries on the table.

To me, that is the American Dream anywway. Owning a quite sufficuent home debt-free. Driving a “get me here and there” automobiles debt-free. It’s more peaceful to the spirit. Not having to keep up with bank payment stubs. Never worrying about foreclosures.

I don’t really have a lower standard of living, because I actually own free and clear what I live in, while the man in the big fancy house down the road is paying out the nose and worrying about his income to stay in his house that is actually owned by the bank. I actually own more than he does, plus I have peace of mind.

Someone will say, “Okay, Smart Guy, not everyone can do that.” My answer is, “Right! Not EVERYONWE can, but more can, if they just will, than actually ever attempt it.”

The problem is that everyone is going to increasingly be on the government clock: banks, insurance companies, investment companies, the medical industry, and perhaps the oil and gas industry.

It would be like saying when you’re drafted into the military you give up the right to see a chaplain or go to services. And this IS a back-door draft.

"Mandatory if you want school loans. "

Why should someone who wants a student loan have to be forced to volunteer, especially since they will have to pay the loan back with interest? The government isn't the only entity that gives student loans. Besides, the only ones who are forced to take out student loans are middle class folks who usually don't qualify for any federal or state grants. This is discriminatory since it favors the poor and the rich. Unless of course, they include anyone who gets grants and/or loans.

That wording is a bit on the shadowy side. If you are in your camps—er—campuses (good cover—cough, cough) does that make you a “participant”? Or is it only as you are going about your daily bondage—er—volunteer activities?

If this were just about any other administration, I would say that it is just the boilerplate separation of church and state nonsense, but being that this is coming from THIS administration, my hinky meter rises a few notches.

OK, you FOUND IT!!!!

I was looking for how this would become, de facto, mandatory for whitey and not for anyone else.

Way to go!
