Romney strikes bipartisan tone at GOP fundraiser (praises Obama)
CNN ^ | April 2, 2009 | CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney praised President Obama at a GOP fundraising dinner Wednesday in front of a crowd that might have been expecting a heavy dose of rally-the-troops conservatism.

"I also think it's important for us to nod to the president when he's right," Romney said, after chiding the president's budget. "He will not always be wrong, and he's done some things I agree with."

Romney, who spoke at a dinner for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said he's pleased with the president's plans to "finish the job" in Iraq and Afghanistan -- lines that drew applause from the partisan audience. He also applauded the president for standing up to the auto industry.

"I hope he continues to be tough and shows some backbone because that industry is not going to make it unless we have real backbone and get those guys to fundamentally restructure all of their obligations," he said.

The former businessman even offered faint praise for Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, saying that after a series of initial missteps, "I think he's finally getting close to the right answer."

Since you end every one of your posts to me with a personal attack, does that mean you are a Romneybot?

If you don’t want to be called out for using name-calling in place of an argument, you should probably use an argument instead of name-calling.

But since you choose to use name-calling, I’m not sure why you think it is an “attack” if someone points out that you are name-calling.

The liberals call it an attack when you tell the truth about them. We should be better than that.

At a time when the GOP should be actively pursuing real leadership that will actively go after and beat down BO and the democrat party we have the “rebirth” of the picture-perfect candidate.

Corporate experience, good looks, smooth speaking style, military experience DO NOT equate to leadership for the country. This country is not a corporation and the president cannot be an expert on everything. The president is supposed to provide broad policy and direction that is developed, researched and presented to the president for consideration. Leadership, not direct management is what is needed. Mitt has many of the self-absorbed qualities of BO Plenty and the micro-management tendencies of Jimmy Carter.

But then, as we see with BO slick packaging and an executive hairdo can make up for a lack of real vision in maintaining the republic and the constitution when it comes to being elected president.

You posted to me... not the other way around. I suggest if you do not want me to tell you the truth about yourself and that liberal pos romney... do not post to me and avoid conversing with me... because I will always speak the truth as I know it to be.

In the post I responded to, you started with:

I despise you romneybots almost as much as I do chicoms and muzzies.

Now, when I respond that I don't despise all muslims, you say "Neither do I".

This is why we have conversations, so we can clarify our statements and get to the truth.

At some level I have trouble trusting people of other faiths, because I know my faith is correct. Of course, I have trouble trusting people who believe in evolution, or in global warming, but in the first case there are a lot of strong conservatives who have trouble trusting me because I don't believe in historical evolutionary origins.

But I do "trust" muslims I work with to do what is right in their jobs, and I trust that most muslims who are in our armed forces are committed to our country and are willing to fight and die for it.

I know freepers who think muslims should not be allowed in the military, and I know that some muslims in the military have turned against us, but I know others in the military have done so as well.

I think there are levels of trust.

I agree with your view of the gay lifestyle as sinful, but I also see sex outside of marriage as sinful. Still, I shouldn't have brought up gays, it wasn't part of your statement and I apologize.

And I see now that your comment about "chicoms" was not a general despising of people of chinese descent who don't oppose communism, but the government of China. Since you were comparing your despising of "chicoms" with despising of "Romneybots" I presumed they were of the same type, meaning both were meant to reference ordinary people who didn't oppose the object in question (chinese communism or Romney).

Clarification helps. And I liked this response because, other than your penchant for ending every post with a personal attack and namecalling, you actually discussed the issues raised in the post.

“””In the post I responded to, you started with:

Now, when I respond that I don't despise all muslims, you say “Neither do I”.

First of all... you obviously do not understand the difference between despise and hate... there is a difference. You see... I have read the koran and I also know that even those considered “moderate” American muslims side with al qaeda. Polling by gallup and zogby have enforced this fact. You never hear or see moderate muslims coming out against any acts of terror... they just make excuses for those acts. I understand islam and therefore I despise anyone that believes in that pedophile monster and his evil rantings.

“””At some level I have trouble trusting people of other faiths, because I know my faith is correct. Why do you think that I care what you believe? This is America and you can worship a darter snail if you wish. All that I ask in return is for others to not attack my Christianity and my belief in what the Founder's created with GOD'S help.

“””But I do “trust” muslims I work with to do what is right in their jobs, and I trust that most muslims who are in our armed forces are committed to our country and are willing to fight and die for it.”””

I guess you would have trusted that pos that tossed a grenade into that tent in Kuwait (before the invasion)... you know... the one that killed his CO and wounded many American Patriots... or perhaps the half dozen or so islamic clerics that have been caught in acts of treason and espionage... even at Gitmo... laptops with top secret intel on them etc. Maybe you would have embraced the group of islamic immigrants that conspired to kill soldiers at Fort Dix?

“””I know freepers who think muslims should not be allowed in the military, and I know that some muslims in the military have turned against us, but I know others in the military have done so as well.”””

I know islam is an evil death cult... you need to read the koran.

“””I think there are levels of trust.”””

Not when it comes to sharia and the caliphate.

“””I agree with your view of the gay lifestyle as sinful, but I also see sex outside of marriage as sinful. Still, I shouldn't have brought up gays, it wasn't part of your statement and I apologize.”””

No harm... we actually agree.

“””And I see now that your comment about “chicoms” was not a general despising of people of chinese descent who don't oppose communism, but the government of China.”””

Exactly.

“””Since you were comparing your despising of “chicoms” with despising of “Romneybots” I presumed they were of the same type, meaning both were meant to reference ordinary people who didn't oppose the object in question (chinese communism or Romney).”””

No, I despise those that lie and obfuscate the truth in defending the indefensible... and romney has a history and has made statements that prove he is not what he wants people to believe that he is. People can change but nothing in romney’s life points to anything other than he is who and what he has always been... and he is just like his father.

“””Clarification helps. And I liked this response because, other than your penchant for ending every post with a personal attack and namecalling, you actually discussed the issues raised in the post.”””

You need to understand that I am sick of what is happening to my Country... a Nation that I love... I am sick of GOD being drummed out of our daily lives by an all powerful liberal Fed and I am sick and tired of liberals who seek to redefine normalcy, America and Conservatism. The only place that I have to go every day to surround myself with like minded Patriots is under attack just like daily life in America. We have only one more chance to get it right and to save this Republic... we are at a crossroads and one way leads to the destruction of everything I was raised to cherish... and we need real leadership and honest Patriots to lead the fight... and romney and his ilk are not that leadership. They are part of the problem... not part of the solution. steele is cut from the same cloth... he sat in Bill Bennett's chair this morning and praised hussein and his intelligence... he speaks in circles and offers no real solutions. I see nothing in our collective future but pain and despair. We will never unite, when we are compelled to rally around a ted kennedy or a rahm emanuel. Time is short and we are as divided as we have ever been. There is almost no hope left for Freedom and Liberty. That fact makes me short and ill tempered. I am sorry if that offended you but there is the honest truth.

First of all... you obviously do not understand the difference between despise and hate

You said you despised muzzies. I said I didn't despise all muslims. You then said "neither do I". The word hate was never raised by either of us as regards Muslims, so I don't know why you now bring it up, much less suggest that I'm the one who doesn't know the difference between the two.

Although both words are related to "detest" in their dictionary definitions, so they aren't really that far apart in meaning and usage.

therefore I despise anyone that believes

Now you are back to despising all muslims. You said you despised muzzies, I said I didn't despise all muslims, you said "neither do I", and now you say you despise anyone who believes in Mohommad, which is pretty much all muslims.

I do not despise members of our military who serve honorably and risk their lives for our freedom, even if they practice a religion that I find antithetical to that freedom.

Maybe your work does not bring you to work on teams with people of different character than yourself, so you have the luxury of just despising people.

As to the rest, I specifically mention that I know some muslims in the military have done us harm, and you even quote me saying that, but yet you ignore it to claim I have forgotten muslims who have done us harm. At least you had the class to leave my quote in your response so people can see that I most certainly did not forget.

I'm sick of what is happening to our country, and think we should focus on that and not fight old battles with tired rhetoric and personal insults. But you are free to fight with whatever weapons you have the ability to wield.

We see that you are still playing word games with Conservatives
as you defend Romney and Obama. Too bad that TeamROMNEY
was sooooo intent on attacking Gov.Palin up through the
night of Election2008. You all are about as likely
to apologize to America as Romney is likely to apologize
to the Mauck family, the Circostas, or the others he has hurt and abused.

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Similar to Romney's other scortched earth tactics:

Novak: "Fred Thompson drop-out rumors traced to Romney campaign"

Said Novak: "The rumors were traced in part to Mitt Romney's campaign,
trying to stir up strife between McCain and Thompson
."

"Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries,
(Mitt Romney, Carpetbagger UT,CA,MA,NH,Mexico) lost Iowa, South Carolina, Florida and California.
The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states;
and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals
couldn't spare the cash to advertise.
Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries.
(W)hen (Romney's early leads) started slipping away, he resorted to unfair,
distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't
afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges."

Probe: Mitt missed chance to keep Tavares jailed - Could have nixed killer’s early exit

Friday, December 28, 2007 - Boston Herald
"Former Gov. Mitt Romney’s administration failed to act on disciplinary recommendations
that would have kept ex-con killer Daniel Tavares locked up another year -
and behind bars at the time he was accused of killing a newlywed couple in Washington state."

"Despite Tavares’ long history of violence, the Romney-led Department of Correction
took no action on recommendations that he be stripped of “good time” because
of assaults on prison guards in 2003 and 2005, said sources familiar with a state probe into the case."

"National Guard Lt. Anthony Circosta poses in his backyard in Agawam, Mass., on June 9, 2007.
At left, his wife Danielle and daughter Kylie, 2, talk near the swing set. Circosta,
a decorated Iraq War veteran, seemed like an ideal candidate for a pardon from
then-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the 29-year-old's boyhood conviction
for a BB gun shooting. Romney denied the pardon,
twice, despite the recommendation of the Governor's Council.
"

Response from RomneyBOTs (other than screaming "antiMormon hate"): [sound of crickets]

Romney: "Thank Me that my faithful blind RomneyBOT CharlesWayneCT continues to subvert honest FReepers
who dare to expose my scurrilous record, my fake endorsements, my fake troopers,
sporting fake badges, ‘illegal’ security tactics, bizarre staffers,
hatred of the military, release of unrepentant murderers, receipt of AIG Contributions in 2008 ,
my imposition of gay marriage by usurping the Mass. Constitution,
my infliction of socialized medicine without a vote to impose European "healthcare" (except for me),
my abuse of Seamus violating Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws,
most say were uncalled for making me a presidential candidate of distinction in many ways leading to
TIME's 200 comments from readers complaining of animal cruelty

which did unfairly expose me, like the Globe about my Belmont illegal alien sanctuary,
or so many about my team secretly criticizing and attacking Gov. Palin and the other candidates."
