JUNEAU Gov. Sarah Palin echoed a call from the Alaska Republican Party for U.S. Sen. Mark Begich to step down after the Justice Department asked a judge to toss out corruption charges against former Sen. Ted Stevens.
Stevens, a 40-year senator, was convicted on seven counts of ethics violations by a Washington, D.C., jury days before the November 2008 election. He lost a re-election bid to Begich, a Democrat and former Anchorage mayor. The U.S. Department of Justice this week said they'll ask a judge to clear Stevens' conviction.

I don't think this will succeed. It's not as if this proves Stephens was innocent.
But by all means, play on.

I’m all for righting this judicial wrong....but wouldn’t it be nice if AK sent a conservative to DC who wasn’t a porky pig?
To: mbraynard
Instead of letting Stevens back in, lets indict the other 99.

Ted is still a crook and does not belong in government. They may have screwed up the court case but he still is on the take.

It's not as if this proves Stephens was innocent. Creating evidence, withholding evidence, false testimony, disappearing witnesses that favored defense, bribed FBI agents... and more.
What more do you need to demonstrate innocence?
As to Palin, good for her. I just wish she and McCain hadn't thrown him under the bus by demanding his resignation in the middle of the reelection campaign. He only lost by 1% of the vote -- there never needed to be a Sen. Begich.

No, it won’t succeed, but that’s not the point...it taints Begich and puts him on the hot seat politically.

“Innocent until proven guilty” exists only for Dems. For the GOP, it’s “guilty until proven innocent.”

I don’t smear little girl. Start looking up a company called NJVC and justify how they got a no bid contract worth billions while all other companies doing the same work have to bid. I don’t smear. I live this every day. You are the ignorant one.

I would not vote for Stevens. Mark would not have gotten elected if it were not for the corrupt Alaskan GOP. Stevens may be a good man. But when the dove fly with the crows he has a chance of being shoot down. The Alaska GOP is so corrupt that none can be trusted.
To: nufsed
Except for Jeff Sessions, he’s a good guy.
