Is Meghan McCain the GOP's answer to Rush Limbaugh?
Sun Sentinel (FL) ^ | 4/3/09 | Kathleen Parker

The GOP's identity crisis just got more interesting with the recent media splash of Meghan McCain, eldest daughter of the senator who did not become president.

Young McCain, who began blogging during her father's presidential campaign, recently made waves at The Daily Beast when she picked a fight with conservative media mavens Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham. This is enough sport to make the little dog laugh, to say nothing of the dish and the spoon.

McCain, just 24, is one smart cookie. In a matter of weeks, she has created a brand, presenting herself as a fresh face of her daddy's party and a voice for young conservatives. Strategically speaking, what better way to launch herself than to challenge the reigning diva herself, Miz Coulter?

Madonna, meet Britney.

McCain jammed traffic on Tina Brown's site with her charge that Coulter is bad for the party. In a voice that is sometimes, alas, reminiscent of a coed's twitter, she wrote: "I straight up don't understand this woman or her popularity. I find her offensive, radical, insulting, and confusing all at the same time."

Claiming that Coulter could be the poster woman for the "most extreme side of the Republican Party," McCain offered herself as the opposite. Bzzzzzt. Give that girl a talk show!

Indeed, McCain's generation is more moderate, especially on social issues. This isn't news. Yet, reaction from the more-established right has been a tad intolerant.

The headline deserves the comment “You gotta be kidding.”

No Kathleen. She’s the DNC’s “answer” to Rush Limbaugh.

Kathleen Parker is obviously a Liberal posing as a Republican, just like David Frum. They’re both double agents, sabotaging Conservatism from the inside through their media positions. They need to be marginalized ASAP.

McCain could do great things for the GOP...

...if they enter her in pie-eating contests.

Meghan McCain and the GOP deserve each other at this point.

Where’s the “Aww, geez!” graphic? These pressitutes are always dreaming of some liberal to go head-to-head with Rush Limbaugh and it never pans out.

Meghan McCain? And they really were serious when they asked that, huh? LOL!

Only somebody completely invested in the utter destruction of the Republican Party would ask such a stupid question.

She’s palling around with Tela Tequila, now, if that’s any indication of her position on the Fame-O-Meter.

It's only possible she replaces Rush, Ann and Laura if the GOP's intention is to become an arm of the DNC.

Someone must have hit Kathleen in the head with a large baseball bat.

Her writing has become drivel.

Meghan McCain has got rocks in her head. The only reason this story still has legs is because scribes like Ms. Parker keep beating it like a rented mule(they don’t like Laura).

Oy.

"she has created a brand, presenting herself as a fresh face of her daddy's party"

Her "brand" is as bankrupt as GM's brand.

And furthermore, it is NOT her "daddy's party"! He's not even a real Republican. And neither is she.

What a crock. There’s nothing conservative about her, and she didn’t “create” herself. She’s a creation of the media that does not want to see a conservative rebirth in the GOP.

Conservatism doesn’t change with the political winds, and it doesn’t bend to suit youthful idiots.

“In a matter of weeks, she has created a brand, presenting herself as a fresh face of her daddy’s party.....”

Let’s see.........a liberal Republican who disdains conservatives but is beloved by the media.......I’d say she inherited her brand and a stale old brand it is, too.
