> Remember the DC snipers?

Just as an historical aside not exactly on-topic, during the DC sniper crisis the Guardian Angels pumped gas for DC motorists afraid to get out of their cars in case they become targets.

90 friggin minutes?
We truly have become a nation of weak people...

I don't know enough of what went on in this case, but in general, you are correct. American History (the real, pre-PC stuff) is replete with people who got good and pissed off when someone tried to kill them (and/or others) rather than freeze or be led to slaughter. They might have ended up with lots of holes, cuts and breaks, but they got the job done or died trying.

Yep if there had been more people there with their own guns the bastard no doubt would not have been able to do the damage that he did.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

I carry my 357 snub nose with me everywhere I go, even to church. Much lighter than carrying a cop. :-) Also, get faster response.

Police and politicans have a ‘’p-ss on the victim’’ attitude about them.

Exactly!

90 minutes?!

That's inexcusable.

Police Chief Joseph Zikuski said she stayed on the phone for 90 minutes, "feeding us information constantly," despite a serious wound in the abdomen.

90 minutes?

Why in the hell didn't someone come in and medivac her? She needed a brave cop such as the one who showed up the Nursing Home shooting. SWAT teams are useless.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Or in this case, a couple of hours away.

Back when I watched television I heard Elanor Cliff say, “The police will protect you”. I guess these people believed them.

Next time you see a cop, thank him for doing a good job in a tough situation

Dave, since 9-11 I have thanked every policeman, every fireman, and every military person I see. I do it EVERY time, without fail.

Police are restricted by their police chief. I see it in Phoenix where we have some of the finest policemen and women in the country but they are "led" by perhaps the most corrupt and inept police chief in the nation. They can only do so much.

In our little Upstate NY town, where there are more guns and cows than people, it’s rumored that the school has a gun locked up in its safe. I know that there are school administrators with easy access to it that know how to use it, if it’s there.

There is also suspicion that one extremely conservative teacher carries or has a gun well hidden.

During a lockdown (armed intruder drill) one time, one of the other kids told my son that if there really was an intruder, he’d crawl out the window and retrieve his gun from his pick up truck, which he drove to school and use it if necessary.

All against the rules, of course, but it’s good to know that even in NYS, there are places conservative enough yet to be strong Second Amendment supporters and that not in every school that someone decides to shoot up, would there be a high death toll.

I can think of other schools like that in this state. There are some pretty backwoods area in NY once you get out of the cities.

I hear you.

Cops can be political tools used by the Marxist bosses in the big cities.

That’s why I’m in favor of dissolving all police forces and absorbing them into an elected sheriff system. The elected sheriff is accountable to the people via the ballot box. The sheriff answers to the people.

A police chief is an unaccountable bureaucrat who doesn’t answer to the people, but instead he answers to his Marxist bosses at city hall. That’s when police can become political tools. That’s dangerous in a free society.

The sheriff is the supreme type of peace officer for a free people. We have one in my county who’s a constitutionalist and a strong 2nd amendment supporter. His deputies are professional, courteous and well-trained.

It seems the greater the population the more people want to depend on others to protect them. I used to live in a small town in NW Pennsylvania - the area is similar to farming areas in the rest of the country. It would be safe to say Crawford County too has more guns than people and cows. Concealed carry is not uncommon.
When I attended high school up there rifles and shotguns in the school parking lot were common - but that was almost half a century ago.

Good for you to carry even in church. Friend of mine’s pastor has encouraged several in his church to get their CCW. It’s sad that one would need to carry in church but at least pastor knows the flock would be protected if a crazy comes in.

I also work in a place where no weapons are allowed, yes, we’re very careful about who comes in the door and you must have card access but I think it’s incredibly stupid to not have someone in the workplace armed.

Thank you for bringing up the DC snipers—

I lived in Maryland at the time—2 raggedy -ass Moslem bums kept the entire area in terror for damn near a month—they were stopped by the cops at various checkpoint something like 12 freaking times-lic. no. written down etc, and none of the affirmative action bungholes running the dragnet connected the dots. I’m in the Philly ‘burbs now—Philly put in Chief Ramsey last year to replace the Muslim (former Nation of Islam) police chief Sylvester Johnson-who said of crime-”We can’t arrest ourselves out of this problem”.

Ramsey was DC police chief who helped bungle the sniper manhunt and the Chandra Levy case. Like the worthless school superindentents—they screw up one city-out on their a$$- and go to another .....The woman running Philly schools (terribly) is making around $350K. Unreal.
