The Iraq war would have gone a lot more smoothly if only Turkey had let us launch the northern offensive from their border.

Colin Powell lost Turkey for Bush just weeks from the start of the operation, forcing the United States to have to divert the troops south, and losing the pincer tactic of a two-front attack that would squeeze Iraqi forces into the middle.

Instead, Iraq's military were able to sneak north and out of the country.

And now Obama wants to reward the Turks.

“What makes you think we’ll have another election?”

You’re right it’s looking pretty bad. On the face of it some may call your above quote a little extreme, but did we ever think we would see the press this biased? Does anyone here who was fully concious during the Kennedy years remember it being this media-biased for the president? Just curious.

IMO , Obama does not represent the USA, he is a rogue dictator who represents his own narcissistic ideals for "change"

everything Obama has done so far is destructive to the USA

0Bama doesn’t have enough on his plate, that he feel the need to get involved with EU politics.

He always has time to advance the cause of ISLAM.

He'll probably do a commercial for it soon:

"I'm not the Antichrist, but I play one on tv..."

He’s got so so much going on because there won’t be enough time for US to scrutinize any of it.

OMG-I can’t believe this.

Wait look over there!

Oh something just happened behind me.

ANd yes, he does always seem to have time to help them with their precious jihad(barf).

Hmmm...I seem to remember that in March 2003, the Turks refused to allow the U.S. Army's 4th infantry Division to disembark there and attack into Iraq from the north. That decision left Saddam and his cronies an escape route once Baghdad fell, and ultimately cost (at least) hundreds of American lives in the insurgency that broke out later that year.

And they did so with the explicit promise by the French to secure their full membership in the EU.

So, I agree with the poster who said, Now we should stick their (frog-like) noses into the turd they (the French) laid.

I agree. It’s none of our business. That Obama dude is one arrogant American. If Turkey is so great, maybe Obamba should invite them into the USA. Or maybe I shouldn’t make that suggestion. But then, we’re fooked one way or another.

excuse me but when did the french promise turkey a full membership in the EU? btw. france (and others) have allways been against a EU membership of turkey and more important france is not in a position to guarantee anyone a EU membership even if they would want (which they don´t) because you need the blessing of every single memver state to enter EU. so every single country can veto it (and the list of countries which would veto turkey is loooong).
greetings

O loves Turkey because they backed down at the last minute and refused to allow us to enter Iraq from their country.

That put them on O’s hit parade.

Turkey isn’t a free country. You can be put into prison for publicly endorsing Christianity. Why do we want them to be part of the EU?

Why? So that Islamist radicals can pour into Turkey from Iran, Iraq and Syria and then, since a citizen of one E.U. country is a citizen of all E.U. countries, after a trip to the local I.D. forger, the Islamist radicals can pour into Western Europe.

This idea is as utterly asinine as France or Germany publicly supporting making Afghanistan the 51st U.S. state so that anybody with an Afghan driver's license can fly directly to the U.S. without a visa or a passport.

There is a silver lining to all of this.

Remember the saying, " A conservative is a liberal that has been mugged by reality"?

Well, the E.U. has just been mugged by the reality of how abysmally naive, inexperienced and completely out of his league Obama is in regards to foreign policy.

The U.S. media won't do it's job in holding Obama accountable for anything. The European media, out of a sense of pure self-preservation, may start doing just that..

Obama is a boob, alienating friend and foe alike. Let's fire the SOB.

We can't do that .....

..... until we make the Democrat Left loose control of Congress in 2010.

0bama means we are third world oriented and Muslim oriented which *coincidentally* enough reflects the 0bama’s own life as he spent formative years in Indonesia a Muslim nation

He got shaped and brainwashed at a young age
He went to Koran recitation classes

agreed this is asinine, but to stay realistic. Obamas comments have as much impact on EU member politics as Europes comments would have on afghanistan becomming a US state. result Zero... no one really cares because it´s none of our buisness. but to be somehow fair wanting turkey becoming a EU member has been the goal of US forreign politics for a long time. i don´t know why, but i remember bush saying the same thing about turkey and the EU. but then again this has really no impact on anything.
