“Merchant Marines” are not the same as United States Marines.

(Although the casualties among the Merchant Marines have been horrible, in previous wars, particularly WW2)

"...where a U.N.-backed transitional government is struggling to restore order after 15 years of near-anarchy."

Sort of says it all about the UN eh? I can't believe the people of this country allow idiots like der Führer Obombanation to continuously move us in the direction of letting these same UN buffoons rule us. Shameful I tell you. The US should blockade Somalia and surround their borders with troops keeping the Somalian citizens trapped inside their country and not allow any contact with the outside world until they grow up and decide to play nice with the rest of the world or die; whichever comes first???, personally don't care.
What more than likely happen now is the 20 American crew members will be brought before the world court and either executed or imprisoned for life for the roles they played in re-acquiring the ship while their family members will be forced to repay the pirates' families a lifetime of compensation for all pain and suffering over the losses they suffered when their pirate kin were either killed or thrown in jail.

JMH two cents.

obammmma was going to hold a press conference, but the teleprompter is not loading properly and all he has coming up is the apology to Somalia.

I’ve read one and I’ll be reading others, too. As I said, the “breaking stories” are always notoriously wrong. This happens time and time again. When the story is fully reported, then I’ll know exactly what happened. You can never depend on the *first reporting* on any situation like this. Everyone should know this by now, having followed (I’m sure...) many breaking news stories...

Yeah, because all the fishermen I know go fishing 400 miles offshore while carrying AKs and RPGs. I mean, I watch “Deadliest Catch” every week, and boy howdy, those fun-lovin’ guys on the Cornelia Marie hijacking container ships in the Bering Sea...love it.

evidently these were MMA grads who were working for a union hauling food in containers to Africa. Our son was accepted to MMA back in 1996 and would have gone if the USNA hadn’t accepted him just a few days later..... I do miss living on Cape Cod but we’ll be moving back in 2 years.

Seems like FOX gets some of their “news” from FreeRepublic (since this is the only place I’ve seen this).

I enjoy reading FR, but I've read some fascinating things here as well ...

While flattering to us, it’s hardly the most professional way to get their information before reporting a story on air.

Well said. And I just want to add my two words to this subject. Oh my.

Drudge AND Rush both confirm that State Department “believes” the ship is back in control of the crew.
