Pelosi rebuts critics of stem cell research
SF Gate ^ | 4/17/09 | Carla Marinucci

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi forcefully responded to conservative critics of government funding for programs like stem cell research today, saying that under the Bush administration "we've had a situation where it's faith or science - take your pick."

"We're saying science is an answer to our prayers," the San Francisco Democrat said.

“We’re saying science is an answer to our prayers,”

IOW, the end justifies the means.

(IE, could anyone apply that same statement to nazi medical experiments in WWII?)

Pelosi never met an embryo she didn’t want to abort

“”The justification, I think, is clear, in terms of the progress that has been made.”

My understanding is that the progress that has been made is with adult stem cells and there has been virtually no success with embryonic stem cells because they are so volatile.

What a disingenuous female dog.

It's not a choice between faith and science, Nine-percent Nancy. It's a choice between:

I can't wait for this vile rotten killing machine to get booted from her leadership position.

My only comfort, and I do mean ONLY, is that Pelosi, Obama, and all the other vermin that currently run our government will someday answer to God.

Thank God for Sarah Palin who speaks truth to moonbats like Nancy.

snip

Palin, calling for supporters to back what she called a "culture of life," spoke in Indiana, where the possible 2012 GOP presidential candidate was greeted wildly by fans. She urged them to oppose Obama's policies on abortion saying, "life is ordained, life is precious." She then lambasted the Democratic president for his support of embryonic stem-cell research.

She said deciding when babies obtain human rights is not above her "pay grade" - a slam at a response by Obama to a question about abortion from pastor Rick Warren of Southern California's Saddleback mega church during the presidential campaign last year.

She rightly perceives it as a stalking horse for her beloved abortion agenda. THAT has made much progress.

Yes, but like CANCER, finding a cure only means the money will flow into the hands of the pharmaceutical industry.

SEARCHING for a cure , like continuing work with embryonic stem cells, is a bottomless pit that allows the money to keep flowing in, while producing absolutely nothing.

“The justification, I think, is clear, in terms of the progress that has been made.”

One of those clever sentences politicians use that could apply to any topic, and while it sounds good, it really says nothing.

A little reverse engineering gives a slightly different translation:

Since there has been zero progress (on embryonic stem cell research), then the justification should be zero.

I agree. Speaking of Sarah, I liked this little bit from the article -

“Today in San Francisco, Pelosi said she had not heard Palin’s remarks the day before.”

Yep, and Obama didn't know about the Tea Parties.

George Bush spent millions more on stem cell research than did Bill Clinton. Nancy Pelosi is a liar.

I registered to post on SFGate and left a few comments there (as "andythebear").

It seemed it was pretty easy to effectively debate the progressive posters there, in large part thanks to more intelligent debate practiced here.

Kudos to FR.

You are correct.

Adult (including umbilical cord) stem cell research has resulted in nearly 100 major medical breakthroughs. Embryonic stem cell research has only resulted in killing babies and creating tumors.

What an ingnorant witch! Obivious Nancy fail,s to mention that we are no longer funding the most promising stem cell research, adult stem cells. Now we are funding PP instead and stem cells that so far have showed zero results because they are so radical.

So, Nancy, step up to the plate and let science use the embryonic stem cells ON YOU since you are so sure they are that great!!!

February 17, 2009

A family desperate to save a child from a lethal brain disease sought highly experimental injections of fetal stem cells injections that triggered tumors in the boy’s brain and spinal cord, Israeli scientists reported Tuesday.
