Some of us said a short prayer on seeing the news. I understand Mr. Hawking isn’t a believer, so he needs prayers even more.

He does indeed.

I prayed for Katherine Hepburn for years. I figured God was keeping her alive for a reason.

No question of it. God Bless you, and Freeper Ramius too.

“I pray Mr. Hawking finds salvation before he meets his maker.”

Amen. Prayers up.

Let me clear that post up a bit, if you please.

I was going to make a snarky comment, then I saw yours.

Corrected version: I was going to make a snarky comment, then I saw your kind post, #13.

You inspired me. Prayers for Mr. Hawking’s recovery and blessing from me, too.

Corrected version: You inspired me. I will be honored to pray that God Almighty bless and heal Mr. Hawking, also.

God Bless all of you for remembering Stephen Hawking in prayer. Sometimes I think the Almighty likes what we on Earth call a ‘photo finish’, for the unrepentant sinner to suddenly come to the realization of their need for Salvation literally hours or even minutes before they leave this mortal coil, I’d like to think that God enjoys the idea of snatching back a soul out of the clutches of Satan as one might yank back a juicy steak from the jaws of a ravenous pit bull.

While it’s safe to say he doesn’t hold orthodox Christian beliefs, he has been equally adamant in denying that he is an atheist. In an era where there is much peer pressure in the elite scientific community to hold atheistic views, his writings have been remarkably open to the possibility of God’s existence. He’s basically held the position that science and religion are separate domains that both lead to similar fundamental questions. While science without faith cannot prove the existence of God, he’s also said that there is nothing in the body of scientific knowledge that precludes the existence of God. The prelude to his book ‘A Brief History of Time’ that was written by atheist Carl Sagan in the first addition is now notably absent from the latest additions.

Considering his background (his mother was an atheist), and his disability that many people would consider an ample reason to be bitter at the universe, he has spent most of his life seeking answers in the best way that he is able. None of us can look into his soul, but I firmly believe that God created humans with intellect in the expectation that we would use our intellects to seek Him with sincerity and intellectual honesty.

diagnosed at 21 with ALS

So he's survived at least 40 years beyond doctors' predictions.

There is a local HS football coach, Charlie Wedemeyer, that was diagnosed with ALS in 1978 and continued to coach for a number of years from a wheelchair. TV movies and books are out there about his life. He’s still ‘kicking’ ,, he can move his eyelids and lips is about all.

One can only wish and pray God’s healing and comfort to those afflicted by ALS and bless their families.

Clearly he had a purpose for this man, and IMHO the message should be clear, worth is not defined by condition, so quit determining who is worthy of living based on YOUR quality (or percieved lack there of ) of life aka Terri Schiavo....

How do so many miss the message. Prayers up for God to have mercy and healing for this man........

Prayers up, also. Stephen, along with another Physicist, made the astonishing observation a decade or so ago that the universe started with a big bang, that the Universe including dimensions space and time had an origination date. How that didn’t cause him to embrace the notion of a Creator still baffles me.

True. Truth is truth, and seeking it is not a bad thing.

“I pray Mr. Hawking finds salvation before he meets his maker.”

Agreed. Since as a major proponent of the NWO and a poster boy for a "one world government" he is a tool and pawn of the Father of Lies, I hope and pray he finds salvation and redemption quickly and repudiates the Prince of this World.

He is an example of one who might well have been aborted
if the ALS diagnosis had been made prenatally.

True and well said. However, believing in the existence of God does not equal accepting Christ for salvation.

I will be praying for Mr. Hawking’s health and salvation.

Katherine Hepburn accepted Christ? I have heard that Rock Hudson made a deathbed confession.
