Why? They played McCarthy for a fool.

Joe led with his chin. He is often portrayed as a drunk, but I heard that he drank because he was scared to death of something.

Maybe it was Ike who killed McCarthy. The Army has been penetrated as far back as the Manhattan project and Eisenhower probably knew that. Oppenheimer was finally got rid of, but hard to believe that someone in the Army did not know that the project was full of traitors. Oppenheimer may have escaped the noose by promising to keep quiet. All this is supposition, but McCarthy’s list must have shaken a lot of ‘respectable” people.

The statement is from the article referenced at the top of the thread ~ that is, the very story we are discussing.

Besides, it's common knowledge. Axelrod's momma was a Commie.

The Chicago mob always had a link to the Detroit mob. That group, in fact, owed it's existence to the Union Corse (Corsican Union) which first operated in New Orleans when it was still a Franco-Hispanic piece of the world, as was Detroit!

Given the dramatically fewer number of criminals in the Union Corse as compared to the East Coast mobs, it was necessary to "integrate" them at an early date.

You can think of Capone's operations in Chicago as an East Coast colony of the Sicilian mobs.

He had a difficult time with the Midwestern brand of mobsters and could have lost it had folks like Dillinger made a serious effort to dispose of him.

He pushed the notion that the US started the Korean war to drive up the price of soybeans.

Of course, after the Soviet Union fell there were documents released that documented Kim Il-sung’s coordination with his masters in Moscow before he started the war. The Soviet Union prepared to not be put on the spot in the UN by not paying its dues, losing its vote in the Security Counsel.

After the drive to the Yalu, (which the US and Korean Army reached, but the Marines didn’t) Soviet pilots flew jets from Chinese bases with North Korean markings.

They were called NKVD earlier, and even before that were called Checkists

more on axelrod at this link:

Barack Obama's chief campaign strategist David Axelrod, once worked for a man [Chicago lawyer David Simon Canter] who was an identified member of the Communist Party USA, a registered agent of the Soviet Union and a paid disseminator of Soviet black propaganda.

This man went on to become a key Chicago political fixer who helped elect communist linked politicians including the late Chicago mayor Harold Washington and former US Senator Carol Moseley Braun.

This man knew Barack Obama and was a key member of an organisation which endorsed Barack Obama in his 2004 US Senate race. Barack and Michelle Obama were active members of this organisation, which was once investigated by the FBI over claims of communist infiltration.

Who was this man? What was his background?

The individual in question was late Chicago lawyer David Simon Canter(1923/2004).

Born in Boston, David Canter was the son of Harry J Canter, an activist with the Industrial Workers of the World who later became secretary of the Boston Communist Party...

A little long in coming. I didn't check my posts for a few days. Here's a link and excerpt: traditionalvalues.org
Myril Axelrod was formerly a writer for PM, a leftist tabloid newspaper published from 1940 to 1948 in New York City.

The paper was founded by Ralph McAllister Ingersoll, a liberal who thought he could use Communists on his staff to help with the circulation of the paper. The Communists, however, used the paper for their own purposes and he lost influence over the magazine after entering the Army.

In fact, in 1946 five of the staff members of PM’s Washington, DC bureau resigned in protest over the high level of Communist influence within the newspaper. The five resigned after three other members of the staff were fired. According to the five who resigned:

Although not himself a Communist, he [Ralph Ingersoll] has continuously yielded to Communist pressure and has denounced as factionalists those staff members who have tried to keep the party line out of the paper. He has destroyed the confidence of those who believe that PM should be as realistic and critical of Russian foreign policy as in its evaluation of the foreign policy of our own government. (New York Times, June 15, 1946)
David Axelrod's mother Myril was one of those who apparently had no problem with PM printing Stalin's party line and remained with PM - when the others left.
