Student Infiltrates Liberty University to Write Exposé and Discovers Intolerance...From the Left
NewsBusters ^ | April 22, 2009 | P.J. Gladnick

This is just too funny! A liberal Ivy League student decides to enroll at Jerry Falwell's Liberty University in Virgina and write a book exposé (The Unlikely Disciple: A Sinner's Semester at America's Holiest University) supposedly showing the intolerance that must be there, or so he thought. The liberal student, however, was surprised to find little of the expected intolerance but is now finding plenty of it from the left because his book was not an outright condemnation of Liberty University nor of Jerry Falwell whom he met during his semester there. An AP story by Eric Tucker sets the scene:

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Kevin Roose managed to blend in during his single semester at Liberty University, attending lectures on the myth of evolution and the sin of homosexuality, and joining fellow students on a mission trip to evangelize partyers on spring break.

Roose had transferred to the Virginia campus from Brown University in Providence, a famously liberal member of the Ivy League. His Liberty classmates knew about the switch, but he kept something more important hidden: He planned to write a book about his experience at the school founded by fundamentalist preacher Jerry Falwell.

I actually went to the huff post link provided to read some of the comments. It amazes me how they can degrade christians for being pro life.

Ripping a baby out of its mothers womb, yet allow hunters to kill wolves from a helicopter and make an arguement in their own mind that it makes us hypocrites on life...... So incredibly sad....

They call us hypocrites because we kill animals, yet they fail to see the hypocrisy in their argument that its ok to kill an unborn human being, but don’t hurt the fishies?

Concordia Seminary in St. Louis might be an option.

There was a book written by an African-American young man who I think was a writer for Wash Post. He decided to move to Africa and travel around for about 6 months to a year.

He went to Africa filled with excitement and expectation. He quickly realized that Africa was a nightmare. He wrote his book, it was published, sold well and the left attacked him. Towards the end of his book he said he would thank every day he was born in America. The left went mental.

Gee I think somebody at Brown forgot to mention to him that Jerry was a DEM or at least he was in the 1980’s. Falwell did prove one thing very well. Christian Conservatives in all parties can band together and make political history by doing so. Fortunately for Falwell, Paul Weyrich, and Howard Phillps the right leader came along at the right time to pick up on their idea and carry their banner as well and run on it. That was Reagan. Falwell helped start one of the biggest & successful grassroots political orgs in history.

Interesting that he accurately reported what he found; it speaks well for true intellectual curiosity. That’s a mark of true intelligence, and is remarkably rare even in the Ivy League...

Ivy League liberals will probably push to have him kicked out of school. They don't tolerate diversity of thought...

When I was in my early twenties and liberal, I thought I would start reading the Washington Times just for laughs, just so I could learn about how cuckoo crazy those conservatives were!

It turned me into a freeper.

A few years ago, I spoke with a man who had immigrated from Rwanda. He told me that all his family except his sister had been killed. His sister was still there, and he had, so far, been unsuccessful in getting her out of there.

I asked him how he liked the US, and he told me that it is like being in Heaven.

He was working as a janitor, a job often considered menial...

It is kind of funny that he is on his way to being converted. A little insight about myself. Back when I was graduating from H.S. I was a metal head, liked porno. One of my classmates when to Liberty U. and my image of Jerry Falwell at the time was this intolerant person. The guy mentioned that JF was very nice, had a good sense of humor. Fast forward 10 years later, on porn, I saw for what it was - denigrating trash. I read some stuff by jerry Falwell and I had to asy at the time and today, I like the guy and agree with many of his views. If I went to LU at the time of getting out of H.S. I would have been kicked out within a few days if not sooner but today I think the only thing I would get in trouble for would be dress & attire - refuse to wear the nice shirts and dressy type of pants for some functions. My clothes would be modest though.

When Jerry Falwell died over a year ago, I was saddened. I never met the man but I would have enjoyed time with him if I had the chance to meet him.

PJ, while on my long term vacation of beach ball, I spend a lot of time playing on Topix forums.
Wow, for anyone that wants an education in the far wacky left,
Topix is the place to be.
I am, however, having a great time there.
For daring FReepers, give it a try.

Liberty University has a highly respected law school even though it is relatively new.

If this were not such a pervasive problem, I would say it needed a Captain Obvious pic. But the left really does choose to see the right as evil. All evidence to the contrary will be ignored and or mocked.

It really shows us who is ignorant and biased doesn’t it?
