UPI: Moscow Warning Saves Iranian Airplanes

Moscow warning saves Iranian warplanes

JERUSALEM, April 24 (UPI) -- Iran moved 140 fighter planes from an air base in April after being told by Moscow that Israel was set to destroy them, military sources say.

The Russian warning prompted Iran to relocate the warplanes to remote bases and cancel an army air show planned for the next day, the military intelligence Web site DEBKAfile reported Friday.

The Israeli-based Web site says it learned from Iranian and intelligence sources that Tehran intended to hold its biggest air show ever on April 18 to let the world know that it was capable of fighting off an Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities.

Instead, only four aircraft flew over the base. Iranian media reported that the big show had to be canceled because of inclement weather.

DEBKAfile said Moscow's spy satellites and intelligence sources warned Tehran in time to save the planes.

Had the raid taken place, Iran would have lost the bulk of its air force, leaving its nuclear sites without aerial defense, the report said.

This is what Israel gets for letting all those low-life half- and quarter-”Jews” to immigrate from Russia. There are probably dozens of them who are KGB agents.

The UPI is quoting Debka! LOL!

Why not quote from "News of the World" and be done with it.

Good. This puts them within easy reach of secret Israeli bases in Afghanistan, Baluchistan, and Azerbaijan.

(Just kidding.)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: this report is nonsense.

1) The Russians could make good money selling replacement planes to the Iranians. Why would they tip them off?

2) This is a DEBKA report. If this were true it could only be under the stopped clock twice a day rule.

Because they might not want to mess with the other military contracts they already have in the region with a full scale war?

It’s not just DEBKA. It’s UPI. Everything UPI says is true.

Well, as I said on the other thread, all the knowable evidence there: a big airshow was planned, it was cancelled at the last minute, and apparently the excuse—bad weather—was bogus.

Still, this UPI article is VERY STRANGE. They cite “military sources,” and call DEBKA “Military intelligence.” Say, what? Who’s this General Debka, anyway?

Sometimes DEBKA breaks real news, but they ALWAYS have to be checked. How about it, UPI, did you consult any intelligence sources, or just run with this article without any fact checking at all?

I thought so.

That’s because Ziva is currently working for NCIS. Once Ziva returns to Mossad, everything will be good again.

You assume, possibly correctly, that Russia simply gave this information to Iran. Selling information Russia already had, but was of little use for them would be a very lucrative 100% profit.
