Poland's Krystian Zimerman, widely regarded as one of the finest pianists in the world, created a furor Sunday night in his debut at Walt Disney Concert Hall when he announced this would be his last performance in America because of the nation's military policies overseas.
Before playing the final work on his recital, Karol Szymanowskis "Variations on a Polish Folk Theme," Zimerman sat silently at the piano for a moment, almost began to play, but then turned to the audience. In a quiet but angry voice that did not project well, he indicated that he could no longer play in a country whose military wants to control the whole world.

Go and take other audiences' money. See if we care.
Hey Krystian, feel free to never return again.
That’s a shame. He’s really a great pianist. His Chopin is fantastic.
Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you! Good riddance!
Replace 'country' with 'leftists'; replace 'military' with 'agenda', and now we're talking: "leftists whose agenda wants to control the whole world"
Q. Then why did he book the gig and show up?
A. To use his position as an entertainer to make a political point.
Let’s all hope he didn’t get paid.
Don’t let the door hit ya in the butt pal!
He should stop reading Paul Krugman.
I’d have walked out.
Didn’t anyone tell him Obama was President and he’s supposed to love us?
Pray for America
I’d have waited until the moment his hand first touched the keys, nad then immediately stood up and walked out.
Haha, I guess he won’t be playing in China or Iran any time soon.
This may come as quite a shock to some Poles though,
many are our friends.
OBAMA’S FAULT!
How many people got up and left? That’s right, probably not a one. My fellow U.S. Citizens are perfectly comfortable to be a door mat.
Most of the audience should have stood up and said F U in unison, and then walked out. As a group they should have then sued the venue for a full refund.
Classical Music Ping
Poland seems to be a good ally overall, but every country has its lefties.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Italian pianist and Italian Communist Party member, Maurizio Pollini used to read anti-Vietnam War screeds from the stage in the U.S. and got booed. He never stopped playing here though and still does.
Don’t suppose you gave the money back HUH Kristian! Didn’t think so you hypocritical bastard. Feel free to keep your liberal arse out. You won’t be missed!!!
Apparently, this yahoo hasn’t heard about the November 4, 2008 election and the subsequent destruction of American military and strategic power...
But...but...I thought Obama already apologized for all that stuff. /s
