NEW YORK (AP) — It was supposed to be a photo op that captured images of an Air Force One plane with a majestic Statue of Liberty in the background. Instead, it turned into a public relations nightmare that led to recriminations from the president and mayor and prompted thousands other to ask, "What were they thinking?"
Just before the workday began on Monday, an airliner and supersonic fighter jet zoomed past the lower Manhattan skyline. Within minutes, startled financial workers streamed out of their offices, fearing a nightmarish replay of Sept. 11....
An Air Force combat photographer took pictures from one of the fighter jets, administration officials said.
The photo op was combined with a training exercise to save money, according to another administration official who also spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak publicly about the behind-the-scenes discussions about the flight....
It had a classified footnote that said, "Information in this document shall not be released to the public or the media."

An administration that isn’t run by pinheads, something we have not had for several months now, would have never ever ever let this happen.

Imagine that any other president had been in office when this farce took place. The headlines would have read, “President unable to coordinate flow of information in his administration.” And it would have followed up with scathing complaints about his lack of experience in government.
In the event of another 9/11 the big Zero and his pathetic choice of department heads wouldn’t know how to protect American citizens.
Obama’s “fury” over what happened is no more than an admission that he DOES NOT know how to run the country.

Hmmm again...I just saw Caldera’s actual statement, which is that he “approved the mission and takes full responsibility for approving it.” The unanswered question, then, is who requested it. Whose request was he approving?
I think we all know the answer to that one! Bambi’s propaganda staff (Axelrod, etc.) probably dreamed it up, but Bambi would have had to give the order to someone in the military. For one thing, joyriding in planes is something the AF is very strict about, and some functionary wouldn’t have had the power to “order” something like this in any case. Remember, for several hours, the WH was denying that it had anything at all to do with the stunt.
I feel we have entered nightmare territory. Not only that the WH would do this, but that they would even think that Americans want to see heroic photos of the Great Leader 24/7. Unless, of course, they were meant for foreign consumption; somebody pointed out how similar the shot was to that famous pre 9/11 Muslim calendar that showed a flaming passenger plane aiming at the Statue of Liberty and other NY monuments.
