You’re a big fan of Obama’s initiatives, I see.

I noticed he said nothing about the US Constitution. All he did was represent his constituents. Well, how does that play out? So, Specter is telling us that if his constituents wanted him to rob a bank he would do it.

My God, the man is not only morally corrupt, he is intellectually bankrupt.

Has Larry King “saluted” him yet tonight for his “courage” as he did jumpin’ Jim Jeffords years ago? The whole of DC is infested with treacherous turds.

One does not give in, but we have to run candidates-moderate candidates in the North East and other places. We simply have to win more elections...principles give me no comfort (and I have lots of them) as I watch Pres. Obama enact a leftist agenda which would not be possible if we had a few more Repubs-even if some were rinos.

Do you think that maybe now the RNC will stop supporting that socialist?

We should have been rid of him years ago. Good ol’ Arlen “Scottish Law” Sphincter

Despite your quote...which is true...Reagan was pragmatic and understood the art of politics which requires some compromise...he also appealed to a broad range of voters...big tent.

Great summary and links.

I was reading the lib blog comments today, round up the usual suspects, CBS, ABC, NY Time, even the Politico.

Amazing how most libs just don’t get it. This was not a man who suddenly found out that Socialism would work this time if only smarter people than Lenin and Castro were in charge or read the works of Marx and Engels and finally “got it”.

This is just a case of a career politician deciding that the GOP didn’t want him, was going to lose re-election to a conservative like Toomey, and decided to try to save his job. (<———Notice the period at the end of the sentence)

That traitor SOB!

He probably knows he doesn't have a chance in hell to win in the GOP primary in PA, LOL.  It's about time that this liberal moved on.  What Specter doesn't know yet is that he'll probably lose his seat even if he runs as a Democrat.  Of course he expects ACORN will help him out in the end (a la Al Franken), but hopefully by then Pennsylvanians are going to be upset enough with Obama and his party to vote against Specter.

Nope...if you think the UAW wanted to take stock instead of cash...especially when the stock is pretty much worthless, you are wrong...the UAW wanted a sweet deal much like the banks got and they want card check...they are getting neither which could really hurt Obama in the end. As for GM, it’s a matter of survival...you all know I believe a domestic auto industry is essential to prosper in a modern democracy...no need to rehash that right now. I do believe with proper restructuring, GM could prosper in the end and help the economy.

Proof further that the people of PA don’t know much politically — no President from there since the first Buchanan.

If Palin is the nominee in 2012, I belive she would win no more than six states, just like Goldwater. The people trust Obama and will for a long spell.

No, the American people will still blame Republicans if thing go awry because they know Obama is “on their side”.

I think Toomey will be hard pressed to get 35 percent of the vote in the general election. PA people want programs that Toomey opposes.

I don’t think Gov. Palin can win...I think too much damage was done among independents during the 2008 election. What you describe is pretty awful...six states? You really think so? I think the people trust Obama also (why) and do not trust the GOP...it is kind of like with FDR. He was elected four times even though while things improved, it was still not good times to say the least. We have to prove to people we can govern or we are in big trouble.

I would agree. I live in Ohio near Pittsburgh and do not believe a conservative can win there...it’s Dem going the way of Connecticut and New York.

If Spector survives the Dem primary, he won’t lose to Toomey...not in PA.

If the national mood is strongly against the Dems in 2010, Specter (or any Dem nominee in PA) could certainly lose. Wait and see.
