CDC: 'Fully expect we will see deaths'

- A U.S. health official said at least five people are hospitalized with swine flu in the United States and deaths are likely. "I fully expect we will see deaths from this infection," as swine flu cases are investigated, said Richard Besser, acting director of the federal Centers for Disease Control.
He said he did not know about a newspaper report of two deaths in two southern California hospitals in which the victims seemed to be suffering from swine flu symptoms. "I would say I'm very concerned," Besser said.
"We are dealing with a new strain of influenza, we're dealing with a strain of influenza that appears to be moving through our community." Based on the latest lab analysis, Besser said new flu infections are still occurring.
He noted, however, that ordinary human flu accounts for about 36,000 deaths every year in the U.S.
He said hospitalizations nationwide include three in California and two in Texas. Besser said the country has 64 confirmed cases in five states, with 45 in New York, one in Ohio, two in Kansas, six in Texas and 10 in California. At least four other cases have been reported by states.

The usual strains of flu kill over 30,000 Americans every year. I don’t think the docs have any reliable mortality stats on this one yet.

Ya, I think that is a very poor statement for them to make, how about some optimism from them.

Well I’m getting a little more interested in this. Because I have no faith or trust in the government I can’t decide if they’re just manufacturing a crisis for other reasons- or if this is really serious and they’re not telling us a lot they already know...
Fox News reports that the Los Angeles Coroner believes he has two swine flu deaths today.
....."nothing to be alarmed about folks, the Mexi..I mean, the swine flu has not shown............"
According to a Biotech Research Dr we know, the current flu shot does offer some protection from severity of this flu.
This is someone who is currently researching in the field..so we were encouraged by that news.
Also..bet the Zero and the big Rats have already received tamiflu injections..just in case.

The swine flu virus may have killed two Americans in California.
The World Health Organization and other health officials have confirmed that the deadly Swine Flu, which experts fear could spark a pandemic, has spread to other countries.
New cases of the swine flu virus have been confirmed in Israel and even New Zealand, and up until Tuesday, the only deaths resulting from infection remain confined to Mexico.
Well, duh. Here’s the CDC report on deaths (only children deaths are listed, not adults) for flu outbreaks during the past few years. Why should this flu be any different. People die from flu, swine or otherwise.
During the 2003-04 season, 153 flu-associated deaths in children were reported to CDC. (This data was collected by CDC.)
During the 2004-05 season, 47 deaths in children were reported to CDC. (This is the first year that influenza mortality in children became a nationally reportable condition.)
During the 2005-06 season, 46 deaths in children were reported to CDC.
During the 2006-07 season, 76 deaths in children were reported to CDC.
As of June 14, 2008, 83 deaths in children occurring during the 2007-08 season have been reported to CDC

No way those numbers are correct, Rabies deaths are like 1 or two a year and Malaria deaths, 2000, no freakin way, not even close
The national average is that 36,000 people die from flu-related sicknesses every year.
Somehow 36,000 people dieing EVERY YEAR is not an epidemic but a few people dieing of "Swine Flu," which is still a flu related sickness, is.
