WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Media outlets are reporting that late-term abortion doctor George Tiller has been shot and killed at his church in Wichita, Kan.

Anonymous police sources told The Wichita Eagle other media that the 67-year-old doctor was killed Sunday morning at Reformation Lutheran Church.

Police spokesman Gordon Bassham would not confirm the victim's identity pending notification of relatives but said a 67-year-old "high-profile individual in the community" was shot and killed.

Tiller has been among the few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortions. His clinic has repeatedly been the site of protests for about two decades and he was shot and wounded by a protester in 1993.

What kind of “church” welcomes a partial-birth baby killer into its congregation?

An extremely liberal ELCA church. Do not think that all Lutheran churches would have an active, impenitent abortionist as a member in good standing. This Lutheran pastor (LCMS) would not.

I have prayed outside of Tiller's....however...this isn't what I would pray for. An attack in a church in front of women and children, no matter how guilty in the eyes of the world, is inexcusable. I consider myself anti-abortion, not pro-life, Tiller was guilty in my mind of many murders. This will make many who believe in the power of peaceful prayer...murder suspects.

Perhaps it was a club-wielding member of the New Black Panther Party for Hope and Change.

Police said they are looking for white male who was driving a 1990s powder blue Ford Taurus with Kansas license plate 225 BAB. The vehicle is registered to an owner in Merriam, which is in the Kansas City area.

Another article says a man in his 50s to 60s.

Killing Tiller was not only murder, it was stupid and counter-productive. Once again, all abortion opponents will be branded by the MSM as murderers and religious fanatics.

That said, I believe the crooked politicians and lawyers who took Tiller's bribes and allowed him to stay in “business” are partly responsible for his death. If they had put him out of his horrible business like the should have, he'd be alive.

Yeah, and against all conservative talk radio, just as it was then. The prospects for the fairness doctrine just got a huge boost.

Most of the Sunday talking head shows were pre-recorded. Tomorrow they’ll beat this and us to death. Go to DU for a preview.

It sounds like a provocateur to me. In these days we won't know who the left will kill to take power.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the killer turned out to be some militant pro-abortion lunatic who did this to get the exact result that we all know will happen.

This will go down as a very dark day in the pro life fight. All of us will be painted as the murderers they really are.

On the positive side Tiller now really knows, without question, whether God considers abortion murder or not. At least for him the question has been answered.

Sorry, but making him into a martyr does not help the pro-life side. Be wise as serpents and gentle as doves, Jesus said. This was not wise or prudent. And it’s not wise or prudent to defend it.

I sincerely hope this was not the act of a Pro-lifer. I would also not very much like to be George Tiller as he faces the Living God. Forgiveness, though, is always a possibility. I will pray for his soul. I believe he will need it.

I wonder if, from his new vantage point, he is seeing all the people he killed during his career.

Here is the church's web site. Notice that this site indicates it's an ELCA church. 'Nuff said by me on FR.

Please understand that there are several Lutheran denominations. I am a Lutheran pastor in The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS), but Reformation Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) The ELCA is a typical liberal Protestant denomination, and like all liberal Protestant denominations is promotes a liberal secular agenda. It is pro-homosexual, pro-abortion, and anti-Scripture. The only thing Lutheran about ELCA is its name.
Having said this, remember that the church is full of sinners. I have no idea what Tiller's standing was in the congregation. I would hope that he repented of his sins and his involvement in murdering unborn children; otherwise, he is burning in Hell.
