Don’t smear O’Reilly with Tiller assassination
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | June 1, 2009 | Jay Bookman

Posted on 06/01/2009 3:38:26 PM PDT by GoldStandard

I see where some folks are trying to nail Bill O’Reilly for somehow inciting the assassination of Dr. George Tiller, a Kansas abortion provider, as Tiller was handing out programs at his church Sunday.

I think O’Reilly is a pompous jerk, and the evidence demonstrates that he clearly went well overboard in his condemnation and demonization of Tiller.

But let’s be serious here. It’s irresponsible to link O’Reilly in any way to the crime in question. Even if you had evidence that the suspected killer was an O’Reilly devotee — and I have seen nothing to that effect — you would need a much stronger showing of cause and effect to justify such a serious accusation.

After all, Tiller was a controversial figure in his own right, the focus of protests and physical attacks and political grandstanding at the state and national level. This tragedy could have and probably would have happened even if O’Reilly had never mentioned Tiller’s name on the air.

O’Reilly, Limbaugh and others are symptoms of a problem, but for the most part they are not causes of the problem. If they did not exist, someone else would be sitting there doing what they do, because they are meeting a market demand. Look at Lou Dobbs and the schtick that resurrected his career; look at Michael Weiner, who laughably rebranded himself Michael Savage. They’re all playing roles for a profit, feeding off the paranoia and resentment of a certain type of American.

Will Freddie Phelps be at Tiller’s funeral protesting?

let us not forget, women killing there young IS A HUGE PART of the problem. It is not in human instinct to do that, it is abnormal.

Thank you. My point exactly. This is the problem. The hired scalpels who do the dirty work are a part of the problem, but the root of the problem is the moral inversion that causes someone to want to kill their young.

Compared to the barbarian, Tiller-the-terrible for hire, Bill is a saint. I disagree with Bill on many issues, but he is certainly not in the heinous camp of liberal fascists.

Let’s see, well over a million people watch Ted Baxter on a regular basis, but only one of them shot & killed Tiller.

Hard to make the connection based on those stats.

If the MSM can vault the logic gaps to blame BOR, why not blame Gov. Sebelius? If not for her interference and support of Tiller, he'd be retired or in jail, but not dead. Therefore, it's her fault.

Phelps is a curse.

He is deranged.

He makes it hard to attack policy that he also attacks.

He makes it hard to attack people who he also attacks.

Some inside scoop:

The Phelps family of lawyers was asked to do pro bono work for prolifers during the protests.

The Phelps family refused!

They are in all of this to glorify Fred, their perverted, child molesting, abusing father!

Our former gov, Sebelius, had a son who made a sick “board game” and sold it from the Gov’s mansion.

It included “jokes” about prisoners and soap and death and lots of stuff.

Seems we could blame Tiller's buddy, Sebelius, for some of societies ills, by this logic!

Why the fuss?

It was just another late term abortion.

OMG, it's true!

son John, who caused a stir last year when he began marketing "Don't Drop the Soap", a prison board game he created, out of the governor's mansion. Retailing for $34.99, 'Soap' makes up with heavy-handedness what it lacks in imagination, offering players the chance to "escape prison riots in The Yard, slip glass into a mob boss' lasagna in the Cafeteria, steal painkillers from the nurse's desk in the Infirmary, avoid being cornered by the Aryans in the Shower Room, fight off Latin Kings in Gang War, and try not to smoke your entire stash in The Hole..."

Sounds like the kinda kid who spends his time playing "Grand Theft Auto."

feeding off the paranoia and resentment of a certain type of American.

Just say it. You mean the typical white man clinging to his guns and Bible.

Did Ed accept blame for the anti-war person killing the Army recruiter? That would be consistent.

No..they are on the LEFT...

The Left are ‘righteous Victims “..who can smear, loot, pillage, rape and murder....their gunning down innocents and setting off bombs are just them expressing their “rage’ against such an “unjust” system....

( oh, and the military protects them from those that would behead them and they yelp their tirades against the ‘capitalist system’ from their multi million dollar brownstones and call the “POH-lees” if a reporter comes knocking on their door..aka, Bill Ayers).

Put the hate speech law into being and O’Reilly and others would be tried in cases such as this. That would indeed cancel free speech.

Actually, it is rather encouraging that FEW doctors will do the stuff that Tiller did.

Because he’s a biassed reporter just like all the rest of them. He hasn’t even scratched the surface on Hussein Obama... and he never will. We have a POTUS that is not “natural born”, and we all know it, but he never even treads down that road. Ever ask yourself why that is? Plus, the man just can’t “keep it pithy”.

You must have missed what he said about this site the other day. And even before that he was unbearable.

You're correct. I don't watch his show regularly.

However, I made sure to see it earlier this evening 'cuz I wanted to find out how he would report the Tiller killing. He seemed fairly reasonable tobout it to me.

I then turned to The Butch Maddow to hear her / it's side for a lil comparison. She / it presented the story just like I thought she / it would.

O’Butthead’s hunt for Tiller was one of the good things he did.

Give the man a medal...a small one.
