Dick Cheney is in favor of gay marriage. That tiny popping sound you hear in the distance is the exploding of heads on both the right and left wings.

why would that explode any heads on the right? Its not like he ever said otherwise. we conservatives use our brains, I guess LGF really has gone nuts
He’s a parent who loves his daughters, both of them. I don’t necessarily agree with him, but I respect him for facing the issue head on.
Think about it.
You don’t trust a man who refuses to dodge the tough questions? Just who do you trust?
I respect that about him. But he is putting his wish for a good relationship with his daughter ahead of what he knows better about. He is putting comfort and ease above morals. I can’t trust that.
I still like him a lot, though.
There’s a difference.
I guessed that he was in favor of gay marriage long ago. He objected to the Defense of Marriage Act on the grounds that it “federalizes” the issue, which is generally a sign of ambivalence - if not downright support - for homosexual marriage.
I think I’m in the minority here. I don’t hear where he says he’s in favor of gay marriage.
He says that historically the states have handled marriage, and that each state should define marriage. He said he opposes legislation at the federal level on this issue. He said that everyone should be able to enter into any relationship they want, but he didn’t say that such relationships have to have legal status, or the same legal status as traditional married couples.
I guess we can hear what we want to hear, but I sure don’t see where somebody gets a headline “Dick Cheney Supports Gay Marriage” from these comments. At most, he’s agreeable to any state having gay marriage but doesn’t want a federal law for gay marriage.
Pretty much why Christian Republicans feel betrayed.
Okay, I thought about it and I would trust that man to the ends of the earth.
[Big smile] And Obama is trapped into standing by his pre-election statement that he is against gay marriage... Hee hee hee.
thanks for saving me the trouble of having to watch it.
RINO/leftwing blog LGF is misrepresenting, as usual.
Cheney gave a non-answer to the question.
He said his daughter was in a meaningful relationship which he supports.
He did not say he supports inshrining same-sex marriage in law.
He also said that he thinks it should be up to each individual state to decide, which is consistent with federalist republicanism.
Believe it or not it is possible to love your daughter and still appose queers marrying. I’ve lost some respect for Cheney for caving on something he knows is wrong. Morality should supersede emotion.
That won’t stop Cheney from being thought of as evil incarnate by the bigoted Left.
You are correct.
Cheney did not endorse legalizing same-sex marriage.
I know that Cheney would leave it up to the states, heard him say that tonight. He defends the states’ right to define marriage and he knows most states will choose not to legalize gay marriage. He personally seems to say he would vote for gay marriage based on his personal experience and love of his daughter.
Suddenly Dick Cheney will be respected in some way by the left because he offered them some support. But the left previously labeled him an evil Darth Vader. I say piss on them I still respect Cheney.
No matter what he thinks about this field (I don’t have his views about that). I still think Cheney could have been a great President.
Whoa, I posted #15 before I read your post #7. We are thinking somewhat alike.
