You have to reread my post. I was replying to an earlier poster, #3. That poster was commenting about Jay Leno's joke, which is the topic of the thread, not David Letterman's. I was agreeing with, and still do, Corin Stormhands.
Anyone have a list of nice guy Leno’s jokes that included mention of Obama’s daughters, even if the “target” was someone else?

The reason the joke didn’t work is its purpose was not comedy.
Letterman’s motive was to bring political and social harm to Palin and her family.
This is not hard to figure out. Look at the patterns.

Nothing new here. It's just the way left wing loons in Hollywierd are. They reveal their true views on the subject of old men having sex with underage girls. It's obviously "ok" in their minds; even if it's forced sex with an underage girl according to Dave Letterman, which tells us this view is widely accepted throughout the entertainment (if that's what you call stale repetitive insults hurled at Republicans, especially strong Republican women who have already achieved a lot in their political career for the good of the state they represent) industry.
No doubt the stories about those in control of the entertainment industry exploiting teen underage girls, demanding sexual favors from them in exchange for the possibility of a part in a crappy B movie are more than just rumors whispered in the ladies rest room.
Disgusting, immoral pigs and faggots, the whole lot of them.
The best thing that can happen to these disgusting late night insult shows if for them to be replaced by an infomercial.

I agree completely. The larger problem is the double-standard. Comedians are hard-hitting on conservatives, and hands-off for liberals. Liberals are OK with making obnoxious statements about conservatives, and ask for someone’s head when the same statement is made about one of their own. That’s a huge problem.
There can be a similar double-standard from conservatives who think calling Sarah Palin a “slutty flight attendant” is horrible — but proceed to make jokes about the girth of Hillary Clinton’s ankles. The only difference is whose appearance is off-limits.
I do not have a double-standard. The joke was obnoxious, regardless of the target. But, I don’t care for the liberal premise that someone should lose their livelihood because of an obnoxious comment. I also don’t care for people running around asking for apologies all the time.
There is a separate problem that comedians seem to be in the business of being obnoxious these days. Part of it is that the public is similarly obnoxious ... demand drives the supply. Decorum is unfortunately a thing of the past —from both the right and the left.

Leno is just another leftist shill. They talk a good game when it comes to single mothers, then trash one incessantly if political circumstances warrants it in their view.
This is why this battle is not only about Letterman but all his writers, producers, staff and sponsors that allow this clearly *premeditated* - pre-written, analyzed, approved, practiced, performed and defended - politically and socially motivated hideous attack to occur.
Letterman is just a figurehead. We need to "rise up," as Sarah said, against the whole double-standard infrastructure.
