Protestors have started a "Fire David Letterman" website and are planning to protest the talk show host for jokes her made about Alaska governor Sarah Palin and her daughter Willow.

The protest is being organized by New York State Assemblyman Brian Kolb, attorney Gwendolyn Lindsay-Jackson, and radio talk show host John Ziegler. Earlier in the week, Ziegler was cut off during an interview with MSNBC about the Palin-Letterman controversy.

The Fire David Letterman rally will take place on Tuesday, June 16 at the Ed Sullivan Theater at 4:30pm, an hour before the taping of Letterman's show.

I’d be really surprised if this would be a success in NYC.

This protest is stupid, it will just give him more material for jokes and his ratings will go higher. Who was the mole from the Letterman camp that organized this?

This is probably true in the short term. In the longer term, Letterman has done something late night hosts have traditionally avoided by identifying himself as an opponent of one side of the political/cultural divide. Carson, Leno and Letterman have always tried to portray themselves as equal opportunity ridiculers. There's no way this is going to work out in Letterman's favor unless he finds a way to de-escalate this issue - marginalizing himself by offending large swathes of the nation is not a strategy advertisers or the sad sacks at CBS are going to appreciate.

Count me out. Beginning with the Don Imus affair, I became fed up with these campaigns to “fire people.” Letterman may be a scumbag but he is entitled to his opinion (as was Imus).

CBS’s different reactions when David Feherty made anti-Obama comments and was made to appologize immediately. (And he was only a golf analyst) Letterman, who is a much more prominent member of CBS “talent team” (I use the phrase lightly) was allowed to skate....

As long as you are there...
How to get tickets to be in the Late Show audience:
1.) Submit your request online using our Online Ticket Form
or
2.) Visit the theater during specified hours and submit an In-Person Request
or
3.) For a limited time, we are accepting requests for Group Tickets

If you are unable to acquire tickets through one of the above methods, you may call our stand-by phone line at 11:00 a.m. the day of the taping you wish to attend. We no longer accept written requests for tickets through the mail.

The words of David Letterman, obnoxious or otherwise, do not merit this much attention.

I have been thinking one way to get CBS’s attention is for conservatives to start accumulating CBS stock. Maybe 100/200 shares per person so no one individual will have much money invested in case they go belly up. Once we as a group control enough shares we can get some members appointed to the corporation's board. We can also raise hell at the annual shareholder meeting.

As of last Friday I found the following information:
Symbol: CBSA
Closing Price: $8.24
Shares outstanding: 57,707,000

51% ownership would be 29,430,570 shares. Thus only approximately 300,000 people would have to purchase 100 shares each. I think a much smaller ownership of say 10% would get their attention.

I saw an interview on Fox where a conservative strategist had suggested a group of wealthy conservatives get together to purchase on of the three liberal networks.

Thoughts?

Joking about the statutory rape of a 14-year-old passes for opinion nowadays?

My thought on reading posting #11:

What if we pick a common date, all FreeP'ers try to get tickets and then not show, leaving him with an empty or nearly empty room. Silly thought but one I wanted to share. I know it is very juvenile but what the heck?
