The Washington Times ^ | June 16, 2009 | Jim Robbins

Posted on 06/16/2009 2:35:41 PM PDT by Abakumov

The uprising in Iran can only succeed if there are fundamental shifts within the clerical power structure that runs the country. There are now signs that an opposition group is crystallizing within the religious leadership.

I wonder how much the youth of Iran, the Mossad, and the CIA is taking part in here? Look at the big picture...

Is anyone finding or getting any tweets from the people in Iran? Any new news?

Only through the removal of the insane mullahs can Iranians have a chance for freedom. Hopefully, this type of “CHANGE” can continue throughout the islamic world.

Abtahi, Rafsanjani, and Montazeri seem to be drifting apart from Khamenei & Nutjob. Good. A divided house cannot stand.

This could be good.

Or it could be very bad. There is no way things change without a lot of bloodshed. See average religious fanatic Islamic behavior.

I sure hope some other countries are ready to help these people throw off the tyrannical shackles, because Obama isn’t going to do squat to help.

That is true.

It is just that the majority of the Iranians are not interested with the mullahs being in power. They will not be going away from Islam, but do not want to be ruled by Islam. This is what I understand the people want.

But, this time of history may not be on the side of freedom...

The “clerics” don’t care who wins so long as they keep their power.

All these problems go back to Carter helping remove the Shaw to bring in the Muslim theocracy instead.

The guy is a walking curse IMO, even his habitats were falling down I read somewhere in the news.

As long as the clerics...any clerics, reformed, moderate or otherwise, continue to rule Iran that country should be considered an enemy state. They haven't paid for 1979 yet and they owe.

Until it's proved not to be the case I'll see the mobs on Tehran's streets today in the same light as the mobs of 1979. They are no more our friends now than then. Polls consistently show strong support for Iran's nuclear policies and it's Anti-American, Anti-Israeli and pro terrorist policies.

It would be nice, but the reality is prospects are slim to none. Dictatorships never go quietly, and never on the first volley. You can bet that the hardliners will squelch all open opposition. Look how many times Saddam Hussein did purges within his government to hold onto power. The same thing will happen with “I’m A Nut Job”.

This will force the opposition underground, where hopefully with covert support from the West, it can grow into an effective revolution the next time. To be successful, it will have to include the regular military and that will require real covert action from the CIA, Massod, etc.

Of course with 0zero not wanting to “interfere” in Iran, you can conclude that all that will happen is 0zero voting “present” which will dash any hope for any meaningful opposition groups growing. All democracy fighters in the future will only see 0zero throwing them under the bus. So all you will ever see is periodic riots that will be put down like this one was courtesy of 0zero.

Bingo. I see a bunch of black-robed fanatics watching all the protests and deciding its time to hedge their bets.
