I just got this note from another poster and twitter on the Americans supporting Iranian liberty & those fighting for it site on Facebook.
This is pertinent right now to the situation in Iran.
Twitter Folks-set your location to Tehran and your time zone to GMT +3.30. Iranian security forces are hunting for bloggers using location/timezone searches. The more people at this location, the more of a logjam it creates for forces trying to shut Iranians' access to the internet down. Please pass the word. There are ways we can help. This is one of those ways.
We have to help protect the Freedom Fighters.
If enough of us do this, then at any given time we will provide them some cover.
FYI
Done.
This is awesome, thanks!
Done.
Where do we find out about what’s going on in Tehran there on Twitter?
Does this help even if you don’t tweet?
What ever you do, don’t identify the actual bloggers that are actually posting from Iran. Think OPSEC people! (Loose Lips sink ships!)
This is something we can do...though thousands of miles away, to show our solidarity, and active support for these brave people risking their lives on the streets of Tehran and other cities fighting tyranny and to win their own liberty.
God bless and keep them.
Their very actions are a postive and solid punctuation point to the policies of President George Bush who was responsible, though active support of liberty and engagement with enemies in the region, for establishing nations on either side of Iran where people are free for the first time in their history.
It has not been lost on the people of Iran.
And it is an absolute repudiation of the appeasement and disengagement of the Obama administration...and he knows it.
Amen to that. Loose lips..get people killed.
Just reset my account....!!!
How is this done? I am a creature of the nineteenth century—just about to get a Blackberry Storm for the first time tomorrow. I want to help but I don’t Twitter.
This is exciting! It’s just like when we helped those poor, oppressed muslims in Iraq gain their freedom from an evil tyrant and...
Never mind.

Done.
Go to Twitter.com and set up an account....it’s easy.
You did not answer me. Does changing the settings, which I did, help even if you don’t send out tweets?
I set up an account just to do this.
Self ping for tomorrow...Thanks, Jeff :)
Set up an account and set your time and place as he suggests. It takes just a couple of minutes at twitter.com
done
got one in the White House instead.
In addition to helping purchase their liberty...and despite what you see on the news, my own friends who have been there for several years now as soldiers and contractors make it clear that the vast majority of Iraqis are extremely grateful for what we have done and want their freedom, in addition to all of that, we also set up a fly trap for Al Quida and Iranian regime supporters...and they were soundly defeated and died by the tens of thousands.
The people in Iran are not blind to this...and the word on the street is that they want the same type of liberty for themselves.
That's the truth of the situation...and apparently, despite the Obamanation Administration's lack of support, they are going for it.
Bibi and the Israelis are not blind to it and you can bet they are giving whatever suppor they can...and its more than words.
I believe it does as long as you are logged in.
I have only limited sympathy for the Iranian opposition .
If they really want ‘change’ and really want to re-join the rest of the world , they will capture and lynch every last one of the main Mullahs , slaughter the basji and Rev Guards
and take the whole damn country back and stop all this
Allah Akbhar BS .
All the Madhi worshipers have to go. Terminated from the fabric of humanity once and for all . They cannot have their cake and eat it too . If they are so stupid they cannot see what a catastrophe their 30 yr experiment with Islamic theocracy is by now , I say we team up with Israel and just nuke the entire place back to the Stone Age .
Gen. Curtis LeMay ,where are you when we need you sir ?
Hmmmm....so....we have to stay logged in all night in order for this to be useful? I don’t usually do that.....is that “safe?”
Done, just modified my Twitter acct. settings
Bu dum ching!
I might suggest throwing out a “tweet” or two just to keep the Mullah’s IT people guessing as the day unfolds.
Maybe throwing out a LOT of them...tweedle die, tweedle dum!
True, and make some of them from a phone or something other than a static computer. Not a Twitter expert here obviously but a lot of the Twitter clients show how the tweet has been posted.
Okay...when you say “throw out a tweet” what do you mean (I do NOT use my account yet....LOL)
Sending a “tweet” is just like sending out an IM. You’re just sending out a message.
Wow there’s a terrorist post at the bottom of that link.
Done.
So....you mean just typing something in the box?
Done
Is there any possibility too many on twitter will cause problems for the protesters ?
Tehran Square?
Awesome picture there! Very reminiscent of the Tiananmen Square photo of the woman blocking the tanks! Let’s pray that tomorrow’s rally doesn’t end as another Tiananmen!
I do not think so. I think twitter has plenty of bandwidth...it’s just the more we fill it up with posters who are “located” there, the harder it will be for the Iranian Islamic Tyranny agents to find the protestors.
Yes, if you are using Twitter on your computer just type in at the box at the top and hit “update” and that sends out a “tweet”
THANKS.
done
Have had a twitter account for six months. Just sent my first tweet!
Persiankiwi
You may also want to use this as your search on Twitter...”#iranelection” For the past couple of days this has been the most active trend on Twitter to follow the Revolution.
I have been following this since the election and it’s amazing to get info in real time.
The top trending topic to get info from the ground is:
#IranElection
You can follow on your cell or computer. Get real time photos and video links on you tube. Also beware you will read tweets that are spam or pro obama, dont rant cause you’ll just get shouted down.
If you do plan to tweet DO change the time zone to Iran if you are just watching there is no need to.
