A strip club in Texas that hired a 14-year-old as an exotic dancer says it was swindled and is suing the seventh-grader and her parents.

The girl allegedly exposed her breasts while working at Cheetah Club in Corpus Christi, a violation of state law. Alan Yaffe, the club's attorney, said the club didn't know the girl was a minor and disputed the alleged sequence of events that led the teenager to work there in the first place.

Having dealt with parents of tough love kids for a number of years, I can safely say this kids recitation of events and the actual events may only be loosely related. Do not underestimate the ability of some of these young teens to make up plausible lies. The truth events may never be known.

Club sues 14-year-old it hired as stripper

Lawsuit also is filed against girl's parents, police chief and accused kidnapper

CORPUS CHRISTI — An adult nightclub is suing a 14-year-old girl saying club officials were tricked into hiring her as a stripper.

The club also is suing her parents, the police chief and a man accused of kidnapping, raping and forcing her to work as a stripper.

RJL Entertainment Inc., also known as Club Cheetah, filed the lawsuit last week, which asks for a declaration from a judge saying the club acted in good faith and didn’t intend to hire a minor.

The suit alleges the girl and the man accused of kidnapping her conspired to get her hired “by the unlawful means of fraud, deceit, chicanery and deception.”

The club’s attorney, Alan Yaffe said Wednesday that club officials wouldn’t have hired the girl had she not shown what looked like a valid driver’s license indicating she was an adult.

“We’re the victims of their criminal conspiracy,” he said. “They flim-flammed us.”

The suit alleges the club suffered various damages because of the actions of the girl and the man including interference with the sexually oriented business permit issued by the police chief, wrongful arrest of an employee and loss of reputation in the community.

The suit doesn’t list the name of the girl or those of her parents.

City Attorney Mary Kay Fischer said Thursday she was aware of the suit but couldn’t comment because interim Police Chief Mike Walsh had not yet been served.

An investigation began in March after the 14-year-old flagged down a Corpus Christi police officer and said she was kidnapped from San Antonio and brought to Corpus Christi. She told police she escaped while her abductor was in the shower.

Leslie Campbell, 48, is accused of being her abductor. He was indicted last week on four counts of sexual assault of a child, according to online court records.

Jail officials said he remains behind bars with more than a $1 million in bonds on the four counts and suspicion of aggravated kidnapping.

Prosecutor Doug Mann said it would be up to Bexar County authorities to seek an indictment on any kidnapping charges because the girl says she was taken from San Antonio.

Last month, police arrested Jeffery Shawn Martinez a club manager, on suspicion of sexual performance of a child and employment harmful to a minor. Martinez, 34, is free on bond.

A Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission investigator has said authorities believe Martinez knew the girl was underage when he hired her.

Yaffe wouldn’t comment on Martinez’s case or employment status except to say he is represented by another attorney. He wouldn’t provide the attorney’s name.
