Riot Police attempt to hold the line and then start falling back.

Riot Police retreat as protestors advance, and then the Polic break and run as protestors chase

Please watch the video showing this.

In a rock fight 10,000 protestors win

"There is only one force of history that can break the reign of hatred and resentment, and expose the pretensions of tyrants, and reward the hopes of the

decent and tolerant, and that is the force of human freedom.

"All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know: The United States will not ignore your oppression, or excuse your oppressors. When you stand for your liberty, we will

stand with you.

"Democratic reformers facing repression, prison or exile can know: America sees you for who you are -- the future leaders of your free country.

"The rulers of outlaw regimes can know that we still believe as Abraham Lincoln did: "Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves; and, under the rule

of a just God, cannot long retain it."

George W. Bush Jan 2005

I normally would not advise bringing rocks to riot, but that’s all they got.

Yeah, definitely Turks. They are toughnuts. They’ve got the best army in the Middle East other than Israel’s, and the 2nd largest NATO army as well. Even from the early days Turks were known for their battle skills. Once they crossed the Oxus River into the Islamic lands, everyone wanted to hire them as guards for the royalty.

This couldn’t happen here. What city has 10,000 rocks available?

It can happen anywhere. Even armed police or military understand that being outnumbered by a high enough ratio guarantees your defeat. Gen. Custer established that.

Yes it is history in the making.

And it is the continuing effect of Bush's policies over there in Iraq and Afghanistan. A tinder box was lit with successful freedom (to whatever extent...it is much better than Hussein or the Taliban) in Iraq and Afghanistan, and that fire is continuing to burn and spreading.

I have seen several of the videos of the killings as they happened or right after. The Basij, who are usually not perisans and amount to Hamas or Hezbollah in Iran, are the ones doing the shooting, usually from rooftops. That is how the young girl Neda was killed.

Soon, the Iranian people will begin taking them down. On twitter, the Iranians posting are regualrly (as are the protestors) chanting "Death to the Basij" and "Death to Khamenei" now.

There is no going back. They want liberty and they are willing to die to attain it...God bless 'em.

On twitter and elsewhere they have now taken to identifying...for themselves...who the henchmen are. Here's an example of a link:

Iranian freedom fighters Identify Basij henchmen

They make it clear what is going to happen.

If you haven't seen it already, here is an excellent photo essay on the revolution/fight:

Turks are good people. Egyptians are pretty tough too. I know some guys from '73. Do *they* have some stories to tell.

I believe this thing is outrunning the “candidates”. The many, many young people (and a lot of the older ones too) of Iran want freedom, not another puppet to tyranical Islamic rule.

I believe we could see the birth or republicanism in Iran, but it may very possibly become much more bloody before it is over. The Basij and many in the Revoultionary Guard are not likely to go quietly.

The key is, “What will the regular Army do?” And will they (say, Like Washington) be willing to take part in ending the Islamic tyranny and then hand it over to a new, true Republic?

At this point, the people may not accept anything less.

One thing is sure...it is Bush’s direct engagement, support of liberty, and policies that are driving this. Still bearing fruit. Obama is trying like crazy to spin this to his advantage, but we cannot let him lie and try and steal it. His policies would have made this impossible...just as they would have made Iraq impossible.

Troop loyalty may not bee too high. That may be one reason they are not firing on the protesters already.

Here's the thing: If a popular uprising can put Mousavi into power, then a later popular uprising can take him back out of power if need be. This lesson will not be lost on Mousavi, and it definitely won't be lost on the Iranian people. Plus, optimistically, Mousavi is issuing statements that suggest he'll be a kinder, gentler theocratic thug: "Previously, he was revolutionary, because everyone inside the system was a revolutionary. But now he's a reformer. Now he knows Gandhi – before he knew only Che Guevara."

I believe this has gone beyond those two politicians/candidates. The people I am talking to want to be free and not have "Supremne Leaders" who are unelected.

They are, more and more often now saying "Death to Khamanie".

For them, no going back from that.

And don't you for a second think that you know me or my heart. I did not say I was superior. I simply said I was armed. And as armed Americans, if a Basij tried what is happening in Iran, lead would be flying the other way...or I will be dead.

It is why the left is desperate to disarm us. They know that if they push too hard, that the result will be very bad for them.

I have ghreat resect for the Iranian fighting right now. I send them that message each day. I pray God's blessings on them and pray we can and will help them more.
