Eight Republicans Help Confirm a Hard-Core Gun Banner
AmmoLand.com ^ | June 26, 2009 | GOA

Washington, DC - -(AmmoLand.com)- Imagine that. The Senate confirmed this week, by a vote of 62-35, a gun banner who stays up at night thinking of ways to impose more gun control upon American citizens.

Harold Koh is that gun grabber, and he was confirmed yesterday to be the Legal Adviser at the State Department.

On Wednesday, Senate Republicans attempted to kill the Koh nomination with a filibuster — until eight of them crossed the aisle to help Democrats confirm Koh.

The back-stabbing Senators are:

Lamar Alexander (R-TN) Susan Collins (R-ME) Judd Gregg (R-NH) Orrin Hatch (R-UT) Richard Lugar (R-IN) Mel Martinez (R-FL) Olympia Snowe (R-ME) George Voinovich (R-OH) Once the filibuster was thwarted, Koh’s nomination passed easily. The vote on final passage can be viewed at: http://tinyurl.com/m4m2f5

Koh is eager to assume his post at the State Department, having lamented that there is only so much that can be done from the outside to push gun control treaties, and that ultimately we need people like him in positions of power. The chief lawyer for the State Department is just the position someone like him needs to push more gun control through international treaties.

GOA will continue watching for any attempt by the Obama administration to foist an international gun control treaty upon the citizens of the U.S.

Please stay tuned.

Don’t Let Your Senators Escape the Heat of the Spotlight!

If you have been watching the news, you have no doubt seen stories on the health care debate. This is the topic de jour on Capitol Hill, and Congress is ramping up to vote on a bill in a few weeks.

Last week, GOA alerted you to the fact that the whole health care issue has become a Trojan Horse for gun control, among other things.

Lugar must become a history lesson as not what to do to stay in office.

This is becoming disturbing with Lamar Alexander. The others have earned reputations as RINOs already. Lamar was the sole pubbie to vote against concealed carry in national parks.

And 8 republicans today helped Pelosi pass the most onerous, unconstitutional sh*t legislation in the last 40 years.

Fire those phuks. Take names and post credible opponents if we still are allowed to vote after the ACORN fascists allow us to vote next cycle. There will be blood.

Lugar is a bigtime internationalist and gun-grabber. He was one of three Republican Senators who refused to sign onto the US Congress brief in the Heller case. The other two were Ensign and Warner.

I’d love to my states U.S. Senator the Long Time Bush Family Friend Lamar Alexander (R-TN) voted out of public office for good. The man has always been a Big Government Liberal with a R after his name. When the Health Care vote comes up he’ll vote for it too just watch. Alexander likely would have never made it past being a state lawmaker had he not been running against a felon DEM when he was elected governor. He was not a great governor but hey after Ray Blanton anyone was an improvement. His seat next time up needs to be targeted for replacement.

That article was pretty much incoherent and unsubstantiated. The only facts were the RINO’s who voted for the confirmation.

These rhinocrats have GOT to be replaced with people who have their constuents best interest at heart. My guess is that the grassroots movement will contribute to any real conservatives who run against them

Voinovich is retiring. He should have been asked to step-down when he announced this.

Mel Martinez (R-FL)
George Voinovich (R-OH)

Both these critters have already announced they are not running again. So this is how they really feel

And Koh is an evil genius who will do a lot more than grab guns. Law of the Sea and other UN type crap is what he tries to impose on America

Voinovich and Martinez are leaving. They can’t claim they were pressured. Republicans suck...Some are OK but we have more backstabbers then we deserve
Just look at the Republican jerks who voted that Crap n Trade bill in the House

Dick Morris said last night that this was an orchestrated vote. Democrats in areas that were not safe, did not vote for the bill, so that they could tell their constituents that they did not support it. Republicans, the same.

Can’t claim they were pressured...?

Sure they can! They have to protect their cushy retirement deals.

It’s one thing for the conservatives to vote for a lib Republican in a lib state if no one is a better candidate but not for states like Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee.

Conservatives had better pay more attention to the primaries.

The NRA has filed as a Non-Government Organization in order to fight Global Civilian Disamament. They need every gunowners support.

You are correct because greasy Mel Martinez is an international lawyer so wants to be on excellent terms with State Department where scummy Koh will reside

Something seems to be wrong. The actual vote record doesn't match the names in the article.

The final vote was 62-35 w/ 2 not voting (Fatso Kennedy & Sheets Byrd).
So 'Eight' didn't 'cross the line', five of the usual suspects did.
