Aloha, 'star wars': Obama bluffs on defending Hawaii
The Washington Times ^ | June 29, 2009 | Editorial

Posted on 06/28/2009 10:01:14 PM PDT by Abakumov

The Obama administration seized headlines June 18 when the Defense Department stated that the United States would deploy ground- and sea-based missile-defense assets to protect Hawaii. This was a response to North Korea's threat to launch a long-range missile on July 4 toward the islands. However, new information suggests that the administration is bluffing and our defenses are inadequate to get the job done.

Scares the hell out of me! My son is moving to Hawaii to his new Navy base on July 3. Just the threat of a missle strike on Hawaii should have been meet with an extreme response, a “go ahead make my day” response. I will hold Obama and the Obamabots resposible.

FWIW, COBRA DANE, (1 MW average power, 95’ diameter apeture) in the western Aleutians, does a pretty fair job of surveillance on approachs from Korea to mainland Alaska, where there is an interceptor farm in Fort Greeley, near Fairbanks. (Some “vacations”).

There’s nothing comparable in Hawaii.

If he is a Democrat, nothing. The propganda machine, a/k/a the mainstream media will cpver for him. A Republican that does that is a horse of a different color.

He didn’t flub it, Roberts flubbed the recital. Zero can’t string an intelligent sentence together without the TOTUS and at the Oath, Roberts was simply a standin for it. If I had been in Zero’s position, I would have been practicing the entire oath for weeks just to make sure it didn’t get screwed up even if the Chief Justice managed to do it.

If the New York Times had published a similar article during the previous administration, I would be angry — upset about it spilling yet another Gov’t secret.

But this is the equivalent of pulling O’s pants down, and he needs it bigtime. How many times has he talked of shutting off money for ‘advanced weapons systems that don’t work’? How have the Dems in Congress railed against defense spending when the money could be ‘better spent in this country, providing healthcare for the poor’??

Your mouth is bigger than your a**hole, and you’ve been exposed, Obama. NOBODY WITH EVEN HALF A BRAIN BELIEVES A WORD YOU SAY!

I suppose your dad can beat up my dad, too, eh?

Keep talking...

Nobody thought 9/11 would happen. As long as our enemies believe the we have a weak leader and with dems in power, they’ll be emboldened. Once NK has the capability to hit Hawaii, they will.

"So how would a 49 star flag look anyway?"

Seven rows of seven stars each, staggered half a space alternating each row...just like it did between Hawaii and Alaska...I remember it well.

Obama looks on an attack by Korea as an ally coming to the rescue to help him in his attack on the American way of life.

“...HE WANTS missile defense ENDED ANYWAY”

He was very clear about this in the campaign. How people thought this was good is totally BEYOND me....

I wonder how the the Hawaiian people are feeling now about their overwhelming support of NObama last November.

Any NK attack on Hawaii would have big repercussions -- because it's not just Hawaiians at risk. Hawaii gets a few million visitors a month -- from CONUS, Japan, Australia, etc. Probably a lot of useless Hollywood celebutards too. There would be worldwide outrage to international citizens being killed by a North Korean missile.

And if Kim Jong Il drops a real nuke on Hawaii, would the US respond militarily or verbally or at all? I am sure FEMA would be sent in with all the lights blazing but would the military even be put on alert? Would it become an informercial for Global Warming?

Sadly, Zero IS the CIC of all our Military. They are required to act accordingly or possibly be subject to court-martial.

Obama has no intention of defending the United States against any enemy - foreign or domestic.

Totally wrong there.

Zero will defend his destruction of the US from those he deems, 'terrorists', which he has labeled anyone who opposes him.

I think most Americans have taken for granted for too long that our government will support the defense of our nation. THIS administration may change that notion.

I never thought I’d see the day when a U.S. president would come out (in unity with Castro and Chavez) against those defending democracy and law.....(Honduras). Why aren’t massive protests already taking place????

Seriesly. Nobody truly believes North Korea will fire a missile upon Hawaii. Right?

Wrong. I halfway believe little Kimmy might give it a try if his engineers tell him his missile will reach HI and that it's guidance system is precise enough to hit it.

Kimmy is dying and certifiably insane besides, and he probably doesn't much care if we obliterate Hanoi after he's gone. He might wait until he knows he has only a few day left before he would pull the trigger, but in a situation like that one would hope his generals would have better sense and just lie to him that the deed was done. But who knows, they may be weird enough to want to pull off an Asian version of a Gotterdammerung themselves. Anyone who practically worships a humanoid organism like Kimmy has to be short at least one or two globs of grey matter upstairs.

I realize that there are a lot of ""probables" in my speculations and I'm probably wrong about all this, way wrong in fact. But never the less, if I were in charge of our defenses as long as a dying, insane, megalomaniacal dictator whose underlings apparently believe is some kind of infallible demigod has his twitchy finger on a nuclear trigger I wouldn't bet the lives of a half-million Americans on that probability. I read an article years ago saying that in the final days of WWII Hitler intended to flood the Berlin subways where hundreds of thousands of German civilians had taken refuge from the final Soviet attack, but his generals didn't carry out his orders. Kimmy is at least as raving mad as Adolph was in his heavily drugged last hours, and his generals may be less practical minded than Adolph's were. I guess my point is that equally insane acts have actually been a possibility with a madman running the show and could be again.

Whatever happens the Magic Kenyan will no doubt put his popularity rating above every other consideration and act accordingly. So in the unlikely event that Kimmy fires off a missile carrying even a conventional HE warhead at a US state, even if it fell short or missed the mark I think the Magic Kenyan would have to respond with at least a barrage of non-nuclear missiles on NK military and naval facilities. If he only responded with just more of his patented gobbledegook, as he has done so far every time he hasn't known what else to do in a situation, he would lose his borderline-rational "moderate" supporters who voted for him because of their hatred for Bush, and are already becoming disenchanted with the rock star aura that blinded them to his glaringly obvious incompetence last summer.
