I think I liked it better when Jenny didn't have any ideas.

Isn't this great? We'll go from the "Great Lakes State" to the "Penal Colony"!!

Maybe I’m thick, but isn’t the reason Arnold is going to cut the prisoners loose is lack of money?

Is Granholm going to foot the bill for these prisoners or what ?

Doesn’t she understand that California cannot pay?
They are now running on IOUs.

So a state with no money is going to take prisoners from a state with less money. When California can't afford to pay for their care, these fine individuals will be come wards of the state of Michigan, or turned loose on the Michigan population.

Many of the prisoners will be California gang bangers. When they move in, their homeys will move nearby to 'keep the faith' with them, visit them, and carry out their orders. Michigan will gain the worst parts of California at the price of a few hundred jobs for as long as California can pay.

When is Michigan going to wise up and toss that Canadian idiot back across the lake?

Michigan has one of the HIGHEST crime rates in the country, even not counting their government. How can their prisons have vacancy signs?

From the linked letter: "We stand ready to provide the details on costs..."

As much as I detest Jenny, if she's negotiating to rent out Michigan prisons, it's not a horrid idea. Of course, Arnold doesn't have any money to pay for this, and the ACLU idiots will try to block this, but still...

After living in MI for two years I can assure all FReepers of one salient fact: Granholm is a moron.

Fill those empty cots with Detroit gang-bangers and may that once great city will see a renaissance.

I read today that California has the highest cost per inmate per year, in the United States. The California cost is $45,000. If they could pay other states, with empty prisons, about $25,000 for each, it would be a win-win situation.

Look on the bright side. Now you’ll have somebody to operate those bulldozers to raze Flint.
