Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit
Women of the Web ^ | July 4, 2009 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:17:12 PM PDT by SolidWood

I’m confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly – though she couldn’t put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but it’s obvious.

Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.

Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so she’s leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.

It’s a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what she’s doing. Contrary to Mark Sanford’s e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didn’t know who he was. Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill O’Reilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry – both of whom went back to the Senate – because their national campaigns diminished them. Palin’s national campaign made her a major star. As she said, she’s not retreating, she’s advancing in another direction.

There you are you little troll. Anyone with whom you do not agree is deemed a troll yet you yourself seem to fit that description moreso than any other. How many people have you called a troll in the last 24 hours, Troll?

“Why should we listen to someone who couldn’t take the heat”?

She can take the heat, but her family can't. How could Sarah Palin possibly know that the Libs would go after her family so viciously? Usually the children are off limits. But not Sarah Palin's children.

And gag me with a spoon. I don’t care what Miss Coulter has to say, Palin is a frickin blight on the Conservative movement. Has nobody noticed how everybody in the Democrat party is drooling over the prospect of Palin running in ‘12? Gimme a break. I say go back to Alaska, Sarah, and take care of business. She is a pathological liar and about the most calculating personalitiy to take the national stage in memory. This latest move is obviously a grab for money, and I mean hers. I will be very surprised if she attempts to raise funds for anybody except her family.

Coulter said it well. It bears repeating.

The only person capable of raising money and crowds for GOP midterm candidates.
/////////////////////
She ain't gonna raise squat now. In tough times the last thing people are gonna go see is someone who quit their job because of frivolous crap.

Palin better do a 180 and do it fast because the direction she is heading is straight to point Nemo.

I am sorry trisham. That post will not make any sense to anyone but me and bert. He called me...and everyone else with whom he disagreed ..a troll. And said I trashed Palin. Yet when I asked him to please show me one of my posts that could be described as trashing Gov Palin, he failed to do so. I am not saying there are not some trolls, of course. I am not one of them though. Sorry for the confusion..my fault.

She resigned in Alaska.

Bigger fish to fry.

btw, you’re totally wrong about raising money. She will attract huge crowds and large amounts of money for the GOP.

I hope your right, actually no. I hope your wrong. I don't want this strategy of quiting in the face of fire to become a modus operandi for US. Maybe her Lt. Gov will refuse and give her a chance to reconsider. Because I believe that her appeal will be weakened by her resigning and I must admit I find it surprising that there are those who don't. Wouldn't she be able to raise more money and get bigger crowds if she was still Governor? Anyway she was a pick for VP. I was on TV here speaking out for her the day she was picked by McCain. And she is still light years ahead of 99 percent of the democrats. Dead fish may go with the flow but a real Pit Bull never quits.

“Wouldn’t she be able to raise more money and get bigger crowds if she was still Governor?”

No. She will be bogged down by ethics complaints that never end due to Alaskan law. She has now defeated 17 of 18 ethics charges against her. She would be embroiled in a minor war with State Dems who want her Quaylized.

But the bigger war would be with the Murkowski Political Machine, which has never forgotten how they were defeated and marginalized by Palin. That is a no win battle.

The war is to stabilize the GOP for the midterms and if she gains infludence, make a run for the Presidency.

I was a paratrooper, you are a Marine. Imagine an operational commander of a recon unit training his unit well and being promoted to take on the commanding role of the entire Recon mission. The commander succeeds. Should he take his skill and leading elite units and stay where he is or go to Staff War College and attempt to take on the whole Marine Corps?

That’s not quitting the Recon units, that’s taking a bigger challenge. I see the 2010 midterms as Palin’s War College. Let’s see how she does.

Some of us have not been ourselves recently. Some of us have said things that we might not have said in more tranquil times. Unfortunately, I do not see an end in sight.

Thanks for your kind reply. I do appreciate it.

Excellent post. Add to the above the despicable attacks on her family, most recently the attack on Trig, and her resignation makes sense. One can only fight battles on so many fronts.

I like your logic. This woman is the only mega personality at present for the GOP. She is taking time off and making assessments.

If there is any remaining hope for this nation, remember that many of the greatest people of worldwide political history had been dismissed, lampooned and ostracized by the elites for many years. Only total chaos brought them into leadership in a time of crisis. I am speaking of Churchill and Reagan.

Greatness is a hard thing for some people to accept, but this lady is the first individual of greatness I have seen in a long time. That is why the media machine has been so savage and relentless. That is why they hate her. They are very afraid of what she represents.

The same media pigs saw a continuation of Reagan and a Republican dynasty in Dan Quayle twenty one years ago, a potential JFK, young and good looking and well thought of in his home state. They released the dogs and destroyed him before he got his national footing and developed a following. They used every stumble to create an image of a stupid, hapless, incompetent fool that remains to this day.

Sarah has decided either to stay home forever, or to divert the media elsewhere. They will keep mocking her. They won’t quit. They know she’s too dangerous, and by the time Obama gets his way on destroying the country, she may be far more dangerous. She isn’t one of “them.” She will now be an itch in the middle of the state run media/establishment/socialist backside. She is a flea to their dog. They will continue to scratch like mad.

The amount of unveiling of who is who among the big tent of Republicans is vast this past year. Let us take notes and remind each other of the true conservatives and the faux ones. Starting a detailed list would be an idea.

That had to have been Liz Tratta, former NBC reporter. Usually she’s pretty good.

Trotta has shown in the past year, and not just in her comments on Palin, although Palin does seem to bring out the "meow" in her, that she probably obtained her job at Fox by giving Roger Ailes Lewinsky's. She's also proven that she and Maureen Dowd are twins separated at birth who consider themselves to be part of the "elite" despite neither having any class credentials to support it. I think both have deluded themselves, giving up a life as real women, looking back in their empty old age at what they've missed by buying into faux feminism, and by years of rubbing elbows with the actual elite and doing their bidding, they somehow belong.
