^Conservative^ Presidential Primaries
July 6, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/06/2009 1:34:12 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Well, the presidential primary sweepstakes is heating up already. Many people have written Sarah Palin off. Heck, many thought she never had a chance anyway and they're gloating about it. And, unfortunately, "conservative" Governor Sanford blew his chances. Keep it zipped up fellas.

And the media, as usual, is panting hard for the most liberal Republican they can find in the primary race. Namely, Governor Slick Willard Romney.

Hey, Romney's ok. IF you're one of those liberal/moderate RINO types that loves big government forcing big government "solutions" for health care, etc, down your throat. AND if you can morally ignore his liberal record in Massachusetts that left the state saddled with a bankrupting state run health care system, taxpayer funded abortions, gay marriage, gun control, sanctuary cities, intrusion and government coercion into private matters, etc, etc, etc, AND you've convinced yourself that it wasn't Slick's fault. The liberals made him do it, etc. They don't call him Kennedy's best friend for nothing, y'know.

But I'm a conservative. That means I'm a social conservative, fiscal conservative, small government conservative, national defense conservative and traditional American heritage conservative. And I will support the conservative candidates who best represent my conservative principles and values. In the very least, my conservative candidate will have a strong pro-Life and Liberty record. And he will have an unblemished fiscally conservative, small government, pro-national security, and pro-national defense record!

Will I sit out the race if a socially liberal RINO is nominated? You betcha. I will not participate in the further destruction of the Republican Party. If the Republican Party continues moving left, it will have left me.

That automatically rules out Romney, Rudy, Paul and any other whacked out fools or RINOs. And thank God the old warhorse McCain is too old and feeble to run again. Please, Arizona, put the old guy out to pasture before he does any more damage to party and country.

Would I support Sarah Palin if she decides to run? You betcha! And I would enthusiastically welcome and support Governor Barbour, Senator Sessions, Congressman Pence or Duncan Hunter, et al. Don't know enough about Jindal to say but I'm willing to listen.

And I'm sure there are other conservatives we should consider. Would like for FReepers to post their favorite presidential hopefuls here and list their conservative credentials for our consideration.

RINOs or social liberals need not apply. Enough with the Swartzeneggers, Giulianis, Romneys, McCains, et al. They NEVER work out for us!!

Thanks,

Jim

P.S. Government funded or forced health care is NOT a constitutional right! It's TYRANNY!!

DONT TREAD ON ME!!

My favorites are:

Haley Barbour
Paul Ryan
Bobby Jindal
John Hoeven
Eric Cantor

I don’t really know about the others, but I truly believe Haley Barbour would be the toughest and roughest when it comes to countering Obambi’s Chicago mob. McCain refused to fight back at crucial times in 2008, I hope that mistake is not repeated in 2012.

That was me in 2008.

Would I do it again?

Youbetcha.

I'm voting only for principles from now on. Because the GOP has taught me, with GWB's I & II, that voting for their "lesser of two evils" is still voting for evil.

No more damn RINOs. I want real conservatarians. Bonus points if they have "Ivy League" educations and still remained genuinely conservatarian (not fake like Romney).

That’s ridiculous. Without eminent domain we would never have been able to build the first road in this country, let alone the Freeways and interstates and railroads. Eminent Domain wasn’t invented in the Kehoe case and if you drove on a road on your way to work today you better believe that most of that road surface sits on what was once someopne’s private proerty.

I fully expect to be faced with a Giuliani/Crist ticket in November 2012 - and that the media will try to ensure Obama is well-loved by at least 51% of voters (with living, dead, undead, pets, illegals, vacant lots, and the null space of street numbering systems included). Still, such will render it very easy for me to stay home.

In three years we will basically have a nominee, and a lot can indeed happen in that time. I do not see Palin anywhere on the ticket unless she, in the intervening period, secures a position of BOTH high visibility and authority/responsibility (i.e. not a PAC or similar). Going on speaking tour and/or writing books will NOT cut it.

Problem is, 2012 = incumbent president with fierce media backing + 100% unpredictable state of economy + 100% unpredictable slate of foreign policy concerns. It could be a cakewalk or it could be time to trot out the sacrificial lamb. If the latter (economic recovery, relatively stable geopolitical front, normal inflation, low gas prices), I would prefer the crushing defeat go to the Giuliani/Crist wing of the GOP - and not another Goldwater loss which enabled the "moderate" Nixon to tarnish the party and set back our movement for decades. If the former (i.e. 10% approval ratings for 0bama, 25% unemployment, 70% inflation, NK nukes Japan, gas at $12 a gallon - none of that likely, but hey...), we best have someone who speaks for the Right to take advantage of the situation (and not a waltz for Giuliani to be our Nixon II).

Ugh.

Currently keeping my eye on the following but am open to others:

Barbour

Pence

Hunter

Thune

DeMint

Palin

Ryan

I'll just add that I've been impressed with Boehner as of late, unfortunately it's probably too late.

Sorry, I don’t agree!

First and foremost we’ve got to get rid of the poseur in chief, whatever it takes, and whatever is left of the once great nation after four years of his damage. Even if it means electing Hitlery, we’ve got to dump Zer0!

Secondly, we need to have the freakshow in San Francisco get rid of Pelosi in 2010.

Keep our eyes on the ball, and elect whoever has enough ability to appeal to moderate dems and most pubbies. There ain’t no Reagan out there, so let’s not pretend that conservative pubbies will field a candidate that will draw a majority

All we need is 60% of the electoral vote to dump Zer0 - as ACORN will steal about 10%!

Closed primaries. Voter ID. No early voting. No ACORN thugs.

Exactly right!

Well, you’re free to disagree all you wish, but Free Republic is a pro-life and liberty conservative site and there’s no way we’re going to support a liberal RINO for president. If you wish to support a PARTY RINO for political expediency rather than God and country, you’ll be welcome to do it somewhere else.

I think BassManor may have come up with a viable solution, if we only tweak it a bit.

Czar has become the new catch-word in Washington, D.C.

So let's see...

Romney: Czar of Hair Gels and Creams
Rudy: Czar of Hair Pieces, Rogane, and Other follicle Stimulants
McCain: Czar of Senility and Other Geriatric Medications
Huckster: Czar of Down Home Music, and FoxNews Relations

Each of them would have offices in their home state, so they could be close to ‘the people’, anywhere but the White House or other government offices national or state level.

I can dream, can't I?

56% will give you the ten point margin you need.

Be honest, we don’t want a Hillary or a McCain in there. We wouldn’t have wanted her in December 08, and we sure as heck don’t want her now.

Dam.....that's a scenario I gotta pass on.

And Cindy probably wouldn't think it was such a swell idea, either.

Pluses for Haley

1) Served as RNC Chair during the 1990s. He knows aoubt building grass root organizations.

2) He is sharp witted.

3) He will serve two full terms as Governor of MS. Haley did great jobs in the cleanup efforts with Hurriances hitting his state. Thus he has a record of COMPETENCE.

Negatives

1) Haley worked as a DC lobbyist. The media will try to dig up how much he made as a lobbyist and who he dealt with.

2) Haley is from MS. His thick southern drawl may be a turn off to the West Coast, New England, and possibly the Midwest.

3) Running against Obama. The media will paint a Haley vs Obama as a referendum on racism. An old southerner vs a black marxist. The message will be “Does America want to move forward or turn back the clock?”

Jim, I’m with you all the way, but unfortunately, more than 50% of the population (mostly those who don’t pay taxes, are willing to abort babies, or who are afaid to defend this great country) will not support conservative ideals.

We’ve got to get rid of this Marxist poseur after four years of destruction. In eight years there will be little left for our grandchildren

Focus on Zer0 - get rid of him and the congressional RATS!

The time for conservatism is not 2012; it’s 2016!
