Palin: 'I am not a quitter; I am a fighter'
CNN ^ | 2009-07-07

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) -- Sarah Palin's not a quitter, she wants the public to know.

"I am not a quitter. I am a fighter," Palin told CNN on Monday while on a family fishing trip, on the heels of her Friday bombshell announcement that she was resigning as Alaska's governor.

Palin did her interview standing on the shores of Dillingham, Alaska, wearing hip waders. She granted 10-minute interviews to CNN and three other news networks Monday.

She resigned because of the tremendous pressure, time and financial burden of a litany of ethics complaints in the past several months, she said. The complaints were without merit and took away from the job she wanted to do for Alaskans, Palin said.

The decision to resign a year and a half before her term ends, and her rambling, often-disjointed resignation speech Friday, fueled days of debate among political analysts.

Speculation has run rampant that Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, will seek the presidency in 2012.

When pressed about her future, Palin would say only that she would work in public service. She did not rule out a run for the White House or any other political office.

her rambling, often-disjointed resignation speech

I heard the speech. I thought she said what she wanted to say and said it pretty clearly.

But you can see the press monkeys earning their daily cookie, doing the master's bidding.

She may have resigned because she'd had enough, and if thats the case I wouldn't blame her. But if you listen to what she said, she said she was resigning so she could go on the offensive. Which would be fun to watch.

Thanks for saving me the trouble. I am getting sick and tired of all the people posti g she couldn’t handle the pressure, and disregarding the unique reatlties she found herself in.

If she goes away never to be heard from again, then yes she quit. On the other hand, if she comes out swinging after being freed from those constraints; we’re gonna be in for a show. :-)

ANd another complaint was field today.

A variation of the “she stayed at home and chared per diem”

This crap was dismissed earlier - so same crap, slightly different wording.

I’m no fan of Sara, but this crap costs all of us here.

Shame that when Sara helped to write the ethics law she didn’t push for a loser pays section....

and at the same time to cut the governor off from raising any funds to meet the costs.

Can you give a reference for this, please? I'm asking openly, not sarcastically.

I am of the mind that Gov. Palin did the right thing for her family, but horribly hurt her chances to be elected President, which the country sorely needs. I don't know if she wants it, but the country needs someone like her, badly.

If it is indeed true that she could not raise money via (to name two methods) a legal defense fund or via a book contract advance, then she needs to let that be known front and center. If presented in those terms, she'd go a long way to rehabilitating her political future. (Gov. Palin did mention the half a million she's in the hole for defending herself - successfully - but did not to my knowledge mention roadblocks to fundraising.)

The ankle biters included her legal defense fundraising in one of their ethics complaints. It looks like they were unable to get an injunction on this one while it was being adjudicated, but that’s probably because the judge had had enough.

>Palin has a few muckraking investigations and a recession - and can’t handle it.

I hear there is an opening at CNN for another libtard mouthpiece. They may even throw in a SF locale.

She has a defense fund now, with $150.00 limit. The lady that runs it said the other day she likely owes closer to $600,000.00 now.
She also has a PAC now.

Since Palin has a self imposed media blackout since her decision last friday, it seems odd that Palin has chosen CNN among all other networks to give a interview.

She still has a long way to go on how to tackle the media.

As i understand the Alaskan ethics system was set up by Palin after defeating Frank.
Is that correct.

So I’ve been told. It could be a soft spot in her political armor as it makes it possible to question her wisdom, never anticipating the malicious use of the very tool she midwifed.

She is, perhaps, a touch too trusting in her fellow American, not fully grasping that some are out there for the moral equivalent of murder. I think this rough ride is a good preparation for her ultimate (earthly) battle in 2012 or 2016.

A statesman does what’s best for those he governs. That may even include resigning when unwarranted lawsuits start costing a state serious money, particularly when the economy is down. How many politicians actually think that they’re not worth $2M of their constituents’ dollars just to keep them in office? Sarah Palin apparently isn’t that kind of politician, which is why she has the respect of so many.

Clinton should’ve resigned but his addiction to power trumped statesmanship. If the governor of California has to be pressured into standing up to liberals, what’s there to admire about that?

If only Ace from Ace of Spades and Ed Morrissey actually got that message...

But, they don’t care. They just want to get rid of the Governor before she unsheathes her knife claws.
