I'm as Catholic as the next guy, but there's long been a movement in the Church that says "all money is evil" and the "pursuit of money is evil". I don't prescribe to these sentiments, but I know they exist.

With the fall of Communism, it seems that a few in the Vatican have forgotten the misery communism, socialism and totalitarianism bring. If those "isms" are bad for a specific country, they're horrible for the entire world.

I would add that rugged, unbridled American-style (or what used to be American-style) has brought more prosperity, healing, peace and dare I say salvation to the world than any other economic system. Capitalism was the engine of the apparatus that saved the world from Hitler, Stalin, Saddam and countless other third world thugs and bullies.

Simply put, Capitalism saves lives and spreads freedom. Period.

Since when does the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, risen and glorified, soon to return — since when does that church subscribe to any idea of any emerging world government??????

I got your world government right here: God is going to set foot on this world again. Until then, any world government is rebellion against Him.

the Pope’s call for a world political authority amounted to endorsement of a New World Economic Order, a long-time goal of the old Soviet-sponsored international communist movement. Bloomberg.com highlighted the Pope’s call for a new world order with “teeth.”

Absolutely evil.
I lost all respect for the pope.
I guess he hated the Declaration of Independence and freedom,....... and GOD!

Gee, a guy who serves as the supreme spiritual authority for all Catholics worldwide thinks secular power should similarly be vested in a single, supreme, world-wide bureaucracy? How astonishing!

I agree with the Pope. I think he should be a leading figure in pushing to reform the corrupt financial institutions and leading an effort against economic globalization, that would be the Christian position. Reforms of the UN sound good to, like abolishment.

Maybe a little of the old German leaking out of the new pope?

This is meant as — Germans, at least in my experiance, are an orderly people.

At any rate, when the pope speaks of worldly things, he speaks completely without authority. This kind of talk is waaaaay outside of his Primary MOS.

Not surprised. The one worlder power brokers are scrambling to make their vision happen before men wake-up. I doubt it has anything to due with God's vision. It's more of a soon to fail man made political vision.

Not to put too fine a point on it but the popes have always been in favor of a single overriding world authority. The Papacy.
