If the grassroots TEA Party movement could nominate a candidate for president, who would it be?
July 9, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 07/09/2009 11:51:22 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

The TEA Party movement is all about smaller, more representative government. We are fed up with our unresponsive, ever expanding and totally out of control BIG government.

We feel our elected officials and politicians of both political parties have failed us and no longer represent our interests or the country we love, and no longer deserve our support. The Democrat party is totally lost to Marxism and the Republican party is not far behind. I've heard thousands of people saying it's time to kick them ALL out!

Rebellion is brewing!

If we the members of the grassroots TEA Party movement could nominate a candidate for president, who would it be?

Well, obviously, it should not be a leading member of either of the two major political parties that have failed us so miserably that we're now on the brink of rebellion. No beltway insiders please. No next in line it's my turn candidates. No try again candidates. No media's choice candidates. No slick-haired, smooth talking, two-faced political hacks. Big government, big spending northeastern moderates need not apply.

Time for a fresh face. Time for someone who walks the walk as well as talks the talk. Someone who actually believes in America, believes in small government, believes in freedom, believes the people can and will fend for themselves and do not need or want a government nanny.

Time for an outsider. Time for an outcast. Someone who is not contaminated with Washington politics as usual. Someone with a record of standing up for individual rights, smaller government, smaller taxes, traditional American values, national pride, national defense. Someone who speaks from the heart and connects with we the people by speaking the truth and by truly representing our individual interests and individual freedoms.

Enough with Marxism! We need someone who will say No to more BIG government programs! Say NO to socialist BIG government health care systems! NO to BIG government takeover of private enterprise! NO to crippling BIG government energy boondoggles! NO to global warming hoaxes! NO to BIG spending, BIG taxes, BIG government!

But YES to American individuality, American freedom, American resourcefulness, American independence and the American can do spirit! And YES to American pride, patriotism and national defense!

And YES to good old American know how!

It's good to be American! It's good to be FREE!

You betcha!

Go Sarah!

Drill baby drill!

I do not know how you can say Sarah has fortitude, when she just QUIT! ??? How does fortitude and quitting fit together?

See if this helps and I pray that it does...

Let's say that you're a salesman at a local car dealership in a large city. You have a wonderful General Manager that you work for. Almost everybody at the dealership and most of the custermers as well, REALLY like the guy. Trouble is:

The mayor of this city wanted a 'REALLY special' deal on a new car but the GM, because of his personal scruples would not play. Next thing you know, the Mayor has a personal vendetta and takes out a very public smear campaign on the GM.

Next thing you know, because of public misconception to what's really going on, nobody is selling any cars anymore. The public has decided to take their business elsewhere.

The GM, even though he has done no wrong, decides to pack it in and take his talents elsewhere so that his salesmen can get back to selling cars and providing for their families.

Yes or no, is the GM a cop out? Is he a quitter?

I'd really like to know your answer, tuckrdout.

“At this point, the only person(s) who can solve the problem is a non-politician or a lawyer. Someone who has common sense and has made his mark on society.

There’s Chuck Norris, Ted Nugent, Jon Voight, Gary Sinese - even Elizabeth Hasselhoff.”

I agree. I think we should stay away from established politicians. It’s an uphill battle against the brainwashing that gave us an Obama presidency. The left in the MSM will savage Palin all over again. She’s a valuable spokesperson for explaining to the masses what conservatism means. But that will take time, which we don’t have. Hopefully there is someone somewhere right now that will rise to the forefront. At this point in the last election cycle, Obama was an unknown Illinois state senator. We should be “focus-grouping” good conservative leaders at the state level, as the libs did with Obama. Until people can be reeducated—which may take a generation-, we need to run someone who will have the widest mass appeal, yet with conservative principles.

Freepers are at the center of the Tea Party movement. What we saw in 2008 was almost a perfect split here between supporters of all the various candidates. Romney, McCain and Huckabee all had strong support blocks. Ron Paul was probably over-represented vs. his total vote-get in the primaries. Thompson had a lot of support initially. Only Rudy seemed universally panned.

Tactically as we are nearing the utter and complete collapse and failure of FDRs New Deal it might be better to leave “the one” in place if things haven’t finished cratering in 2012.

I am completley convinced that we need to wake up in the gutter before we start our recovery. Obama is the PERFECT figurehead to sit on top of the Welfare State as it collapses.

It’s the tone of her supporters that bothers me.

Well, an excited, contagious tone gets folks elected. I'm all for it if it's for the right reasons. Obama's folks were all excited for all the WRONG reasons, but it still worked.

She isn’t the second coming of Jesus, y’know.

I most certainly do and neither is Barry, though a lot of his folks would beg to differ.

Sarah Palin is the one and only potential candidate who can unite an effective conservative opposition against the entrenched communist machine of Democrats and East Coast RINOs.

Michelle Bachmann would be a nice addition to the ticket.

Huckabee, Romney, and most of the other guys getting honorable mentions don't have the gonads and principles to put forth a conservative alternative. They are part of he problem.

But first, we must limit his power, by taking congress away from the Democrats next year.

We also need to reverse the communist takeover of state and county offices, especially Secretaries of State and county elections officials.

Many of those were put in place to assist the ACORN voter fraud that got Obama into office.

Palin plus a black conservative woman like Janice Rogers Brown would drive the RATs crazy. Would be fun to watch.

I actually think the most fun to watch would be running a black conservative man. Toe-to-toe with Obama. And actually run a true, black, slave descendant. It would be fun to watch the A-hyphen-A community squirm over who to vote for.

Although I love SP, I think she's going to need to do a lot of damage repair in order to appeal to the moderates and independents who have likely bought into the media assassination. She could do it, though--I have no doubt in her ability.

I must respectfully disagree. There's no comparison between what Ross Perot did and what Sarah Palin has done. I'd have mountains more respect for somebody seeking a higher office who resigns their currently held position in order to focus their efforts than these criminals we have now, who draw a paycheck at the taxpayer's expense while running for an entirely separate office. By definition, at best it's conflict of interest! At worst, it's common thievery! I think that the law should immediately terminate the current public employment of any office holder who officially runs for a higher or lower office while actively serving IN an office at the time. Have you considered equating this to the commercial world? What employer in their right mind is going to pay for you or I to completely abandon our work functions for them with their FULL KNOWLEDGE in order to focus on getting a better job?! Have you tried that out lately? Let me know if you get away with it and end up keeping your previous job if the better one doesn't work out!

Truthfully, neither you, nor I, nor anybody else here really knows what Sarah Palin is up to. Everybody has an idea, a suspicion, a doubt, or a theory. But nobody really knows. There's no comparison between her and Perot. Perot quit when he was well onto his way to a win. He got cold feet after listening to the wrong people. Palin, if ANYTHING has simply resigned her Governorship for who knows why at this point. But even if she DID do this in order to focus on pursuing a higher office, then she garners more respect than Perot, or any of the other jackass political thieves who take a paycheck for serving in an office which they IGNORE while running for another.

The only thing I know for certain right now is that the left and the RINOs (and the GOP for that matter) seem to be terrified of her. There's a lot that we don't know. But somebody knows something, otherwise there wouldn't be so much panic about her recent move away from Alaska state politics. Right now, at this point I'm counting this as a positive thing. That's about all anybody can say about what she's done at this point.

To call her a quitter however, is simply unfounded.
