On Page 425 of Obama’s health care bill, the Federal Government will require EVERYONE who is on Social Security to undergo a counseling session every 5 years with the objective being that they will explain to them just how to end their own life earlier. Yes...They are going to push SUICIDE to cut medicare spending!!! And no, I am NOT SH—ing YOU! So those of you who voted for Obama have now put your own parents in dire straights...Congratulations!

Whoever said this is full of horse throw. Take a look at this, assuming it’s what’s being used for a source, and show me where it says anything about assisted suicide, let along pushing assisted suicide.

It would be wise to check the source before posting things like this. Otherwise, a persons credibility suffers.
I think you are trying to temper the hysteria here and I appreciate that, but we must also not lose sight of the bigger picture.
What about anyone who is in a coma? How long will they be allowed to remain that way? Will they even be given any type of life-sustaining care? Will they pull the plug in a week? A month? Six months?
What about someone who has lost the use of their limbs? Paralyzed in an accident? Is it worth the cost to keep them going?
Who is going to determine whether or not your life is “worth it”?
What about advanced directives? Aren’t they going to be essentially null and void if the government is going to decide on how long you live and what kind of end of life care you receive?
Anyone who has a major health issue, even children with down’s syndrome are going to be a drain on the health care system and the taxpayers. Handicapped need wheelchairs, physical therapy, special education, long-time care, special housing etc. Which ones should be killed off or denied life-saving medical care?
This is just more than old people at the end of their lives. This is children, adults, teens with special needs, victims of disease or accident or born with defects.
They may have all sorts of things up their sleeves, but the bill does not support the statements made about it.
The evidence does not support the conclusions made. That’s all I’m saying.

As one who has had major health issues over the years, kept working (at a job you wouldn't believe), and overcome (or at least made a guarded truce with all of them), I'd like to point out that Down’s kids have been mostly sorted out of the mix before birth. Not that there aren't a few of them around. There's just not as many as a percentage compared to their statistical representation in the past.
Due to amniocentesis, they can be detected well before birth. After the determination's been made, it's open season on ‘em. Problem is, the tests are not always accurate (you can see what's coming). We were told that our daughter was Down’s. Not that it made any difference to us, we're not that sort of procreators. We thanked the Doc for the information, and my wife continued to gestate.
She went full term + and now our daughter's 12, and an honor student in her charter school class. Sometimes the answers that technology provides, aren't accurate (and there's one of the problems). So you see, a little faith, and some individual morality can do great things. It certainly did so for Rachel. :-)
As for our son, he's something of a statistical anomaly as well. Technology saved him in-utero (that and a bit of divine intervention), but that's another scary story.
Fact is that 3/4’s of our family would be dead by now without some VERY unlikely “saves”. Saves that were so statistically unlikely that there was pretty clearly some divine intervention involved (I'm a pretty pragmatic guy and believe me, this is not an overstatement). I really do think that when you walk with God, improbably nice things happen. It's true for us.

THat is a reasoned objection. But the headline of this thread is a lie and a distortion.
I am deeply suspicious of medical advance directives and always have been. THey are to cover the providers in case they get sued and really do not cover the territory of the last days. People with DNR/s,,I have seen this with my family,,do not get even minimal treatment from what I see.
The best thing available is someone you love and trust and whom you empower to make decisions if you cannot. I see all the time people making decisions about these matters under theinfluence of feeling dreadful and hopeless. Not a good time to say quit treating me.
THe default positon should be treat as you want yourself treated and treat with available means. Not the other way around.

This seems rather appropriate considering the country is on a greased path to national suicide. Where is AARP in all of this? I’ve heard they are in full support of Obamacare. This would seem counterintuitive considering how this will undoubtedly thin their membership.
The “Stimulus Bill” already mandated this counseling.
Here in Texas, we have been trying to come up with language or a standard “Advance Directive” that would make everyone happy since 1999. Needless to say, we haven’t been able to bring together all the groups - witness the fights between the prolife groups over the last 2 years.
I’m in favor of a personalized, personal conversation between family members and between the doctor and the patient. There should *not* be mandated counseling and some blurb in the “Medicare and You” handout, as outlined in the bill (pp. 425-434).
(He is not on SS and none of these elites are. They expect you to die after you start drawing SS but they want to live forever because their worth to the country is so much more than yours.)

This is why Great Leader NEEDS to have this legislation passed before the August recess. The longer the paperwork is out in the open before it is signed into law the greater the number of people who actually read its contents. Just be quiet and allow Great Leader to have HIS way.

Why beat around the bush and just simply directly pray to God to destroy us? We are asking for it anyway. No country I know has ever passed legislation to actively encourage people to kill themselves.
