Alaska Gov. Palin to leave office with cloudy future (PDS from the drive-by media)

Sarah Palin, the former Republican U.S. vice presidential candidate, will step down as Alaska's governor on Sunday with her political future clouded by ethics probes, legal bills and dwindling popularity.

Palin made a surprise decision on July 3 that she would resign, raising questions about her next move and whether she was planning to mount a run for president.

She has cited a variety of reasons for quitting -- the burden of fighting nearly two dozen ethics charges, which she has dismissed as "frivolous," her desire to avoid being perceived as a powerless "lame-duck" governor, and a "higher calling," among others.

The handover to Alaska Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell will take place at an annual picnic hosted by the governor in Fairbanks, where Palin intends to deliver a farewell speech and Parnell will take the oath of office.

This year's Fairbanks picnic, usually a low-key event, will be attended by armies of national reporters and camera crews.

Making time for family or to address legal issues could have pushed Palin to resign, said Michael Josephson, a former law professor in California who regularly advises Alaska lawmakers on ethics issues

"The problem is she hasn't been as coherent or clear as I would have liked her to be," Josephson said.

Palin's ethics woes have helped batter her image. A new Washington Post-ABC poll puts her favorability rating at 40 percent, with 53 percent giving her an unfavorable rating.

How weighted towards Democrats was that WaPo/ABC poll, I wonder? If she's dead-in-the-water has-been with no prospects, why keep covering her every move?

Here’s a question. Why are they so concerned over what she does in the future. I thought she has no political future, I mean that is what the media keeps on telling us, that she is done, finito, finished. So why are they so obsessed over what she does. Every time they attack her, look at Obama’s poll numbers and it will show you the reason why they come out and attack her. Funny how they don’t mention the Rasmussen poll which came out a few days ago which gave her a 6 point deficit to Obama and a 70+ approval rating amongst the GOP. The libs are TERRIFIED that Obama is a one term President, their worst nightmare come true would be a beautiful, Conservative woman in the White House

I sincerely hope that Sarah will run in 2012.

May God bless her and her family.

Because there's a big difference between what the lame stream media and liberal politicians want and what is reality.

Her official legal-defense fund, formed to help Palin pay more than $500,000 in lawyers’ costs, is itself an ethics violation because it uses her state government job for personal financial benefit, according to a report from an independent investigator hired by the state.

Talk of about fact omission. Reuters never bother to mention that the so-called independent investigator is a major contributor to Obama. Plus out of the 16 ethics violations filed, Palin was found not guilty.

Hehehe...the cloudy future, confusion and criticism is all coming from the left, the DNC, the RINOS. They are very confused...and very, very afraid.

Sarah initiated a brilliant flanking manuever against the left, the DNC, the MSM and the RINOs that has them all in a frenzy wondering what her next move will be and how it will be perceived...and has them frothing at the mouth in their efforts to discredit her.

Sarah will now get her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disaster and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012.

Umm who cares, Palin is now a private citizen and this is about as compelling as the Robert Gates story. Their boy, took it up the cucumber shoot this week I guess MSNBC\AP\Cnn need to report some good news for the drones. Pelosi’s healthcare “Reform” is on life support, Ignoramus just had to go off the prompter, the economy still seems to be on its back, even Paula Abdul looks to be leaving idol...oh and Michael Jackson is still dead, he never rose again.

" ... dwindling popularity."

ROTFLMAO ... Stop it, Lamestream Medjia, I'm gonna bust a gut.

Last poll I saw showed Sarah with 72% positive amongst Republican and Republican-leaning voters. And this after you asshats have pounded on her unmercilessly. Guess it's not working, eh Marxist presstitutes, so you're just gonna try turning up the burner to white-hot on her.

You're just gonna make conservatives love her more and hate you more.

He didn't say it was a violation. He said it MAY be a violation if she ever took any money from the fund, which she hasn't.

Another effing media lie.

what palin needs to do is expose the corruption in the media. Do a compare and contrast with pictures in her speeches.

Picture of her wearing a coat with a company logo = considered ethics violation by the media

Show picture of Obama wearing a company logo = media’s response

palin taking a book deal = ethics violation
obama taking a book deal - no ethics violation

I was fighting with libs on huffpost about that poll. Their answer? Name calling. I was an “idiot” etc. And they claimed Ras is a “joke”. Really? Ras was the most accurate of all polling in predicting Hussein’s win.

Although Palin is resigning tomorrow, I hope the board still looks at all of these bogus ethics charges and clears Palin. That way she can say, “20+ bogus ethics charges filed against me and of them cleared.”
