Atheists less than 1% of prison population

During 10 years in Sing-Sing, those executed for murder were 65% Catholics, 26% Protestants, 6% Hebrew, 2% Pagan, and less than 1/3 of 1% non-religious.

Steiner and Swancara surveyed Canadian prisons and found 1,294 Catholics, 435 Anglicans, 241 Methodists, 135 Baptists, and 1 Unitarian. Dr. Christian, Superintendant of the NY State Reformatories, checked 22,000 prison inmates and found only 4 college graduates. In "Who's Who" 91% were college graduates, and he commented that "intelligence and knowledge produce right living" and that "crime is the offspring of superstition and ignorance."

In Joliet, there were 2,888 Catholics, 1,020 Baptists, 617 Methodists and 0 non-religious. .

Michigan had 82,000 Baptists and 83,000 Jews in their state population. But in the prisons, there were 22 times as many Baptists as Jews, and 18 times as many Methodists as Jews. .

In Sing-Sing, there were 1,553 total inmates with 855 of them Catholics (over half), 518 Protestants, 177 Jews and 8 non- religious. .

ur argument about the draconian laws that practically make a divorced man a slave to his ex-wife

My “slave” paid 720 per month for four children under the age of 12. That was 10% of our needed income.

Beautiful spot, but why would anyone take their four year old daughter to the edge of a cliff like that one?

The problem here is with divorce and child-support law that essentially reduces many men to being slaves to their ex-wives and children. It's one thing to see yourself as a provider that's part of a family. It's another to see yourself as beast of burden and getting little back in return -- no love, minimal family time, nothing. Sure, the guy's a monster, but sometimes our own system creates monsters.

Absolutely not. The problem is men and woman past the age of puberty having sex without being married and intending to raise any children with love that might result from having sex. After blowing that responsibility off, there's really no other point to the discussion. You play, you pay.

Now if I may... how many women do the equivalent before birth for the same reason essentially.

Yep. Unless the mother in this story was given an engagement ring by this man and they had a wedding date set and a down payment in a joint account, she was completely negligent to the child herself. I pity her in her loss; but it all could have been avoided if she had avoided Marxist sex with someone not promised or avowed to her and her future children.

I suggest if you don’t want to pay child support throw yourself off the cliff. Don’t have children if you don’t want to support them.

As usual, you are right on the money.

How are you doing, beandog? Long time no see (I don't go there any more, either.)

“The problem here is with divorce and child-support law that essentially reduces many men to being slaves to their ex-wives and children.”

Yeah, it is a real drag fathering kids and having to support them financially. The best way I know to avoid finding yourself in that position is....don’t have kids. If you father them...raise them.

As far as being a slave to your kids...welcome to the real world. But, that is part of the responsibility of being a father or mother.

I am proud to say that I come from a State that will hound you to the edges of the earth to get you to pay child support for your children. And it works....

I hope they fry that demon for killing that little girl...

You don’t have to be defensive. Thank god my ex and I get along. I admire what she does to take care of the children and she is thankful for what I do. You need 7200 a month to take care of 4 children? Maybe you need a budget. I do 6 on less than that. But thank you for your bitter comment. As I tell my wife when she complains about being broke, “Maybe you shouldn’t have left.” Don’t tell me, I’m sure you had a perfectly good reason. If 720 is what he is paying it isn’t easy for him either. Good luck with your children.

Under ObamaCare, he will be able to say “It was just a late-term, or post-partum, abortion, your Honor.” and get off Scot-free!

Here's the problem with those statistics: they don't correct for those who converted while in prison.

A significant number of inmates who were members of a denomination but inactive, or weren't anything in particular before their incarceration, have what is known in the trade as a "jailhouse conversion".

The Catholics get a considerable number of these conversions for a couple of reasons: (1) they have extremely active prison ministries, so they're there; (2) you get to go to daily Mass and therefore get out of the block; (3) it looks good on your parole application.

A fellow who murdered one of our family members was a non-church-attending Episcopalian until he got sent to prison. Now he's a Catholic and tells everybody (especially the Parole Board) all about it.

I'm sure there are some who experience an honest conversion and a call to holiness, as well. I haven't happened to meet any of them yet, but . . . .

Just sayin’...

An accidental world has no moral relevance - at all.

An intelligent atheist will eventually figure that out and act on it.

Eventually.

Why not?

That’s why I said “intelligent” athiest. Ones that have not thought it through still have a remnant of the God Given sense of morality and actually try to act on it.
