Durbin warns other lawmakers of healthcare town hall 'sucker punch' @ 3:39 pm by Jordan Fabian

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) warned other members of Congress against antagonistic audience members at healthcare town hall events who may be funded by industry interest groups.

"I hope my colleagues won't fall for a sucker punch like this," Durbin told the liberal blog ThinkProgress.

"These health insurance companies and people like them are trying to load these town meetings for visual impact on television," he added.

Liberal news sources have recently featured items about conservative and interest groups efforts to pack lawmakers' town hall meetings with brash, vocal participants.

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius were faced with a hostile crowd at a town hall meeting in Philadelphia on Sunday.

Here is video of Durbin's remarks:

Isn’t that akin to having a neighborhood watch meeting without the neighbors. LOL!!! I guess he only wants the ones looking for free stuff to show up.

I’m not trying to cause trouble or sound like a crazyman. But at what point do people in a free society go beyond the ballot box to preserve their freedom? Are we at that point now? What might that look like? Where/how should it begin?

I have no idea what you are talking about. Everyone on this site is a hardworking, law abiding, freedom loving citizen. How about you?

Clearly a man who does not believe his excrement is malodorous.

He actually believes he can inoculate Congressmen and Congresswomen from criticism over the health care reform bills by preemptively labeling opposing ideas part of front for a despised industry (and at that, despised because of his agitation)?

Durbin is despicable most for his mellifluous, easy-listening announcer like delivery of the most vicious, slanderous (outside of the Constitutionally protected floor of the Senate) attacks on Republicans and conservatives. It's as if he hypnotizes a portion of the public and all of the press by delivering tremendous falsehood and hostility in soft and friendly intonation.

They are not afraid. They will continue to do what they do until they are either voted out of office of pulled from the Capitol and tarred and featherd. Neither of which I see happening.
The voters will continue to walk in and put their X next to the name they recognize and everyone believes enough in election consequences that the 2nd one will not happen.
These congress people do not represent us and they have been shown no reason to fear us.

Oh, cry me a river, Dickie. You’ll deny to your death that regular citizens just might disagree with your socialistic views.

The funny thing is poll after poll shows that more than 70% of Americans are happy with their current health plans. Wouldn’t it make sense that a meeting criticizing and trying to change something that 70% people are for would attract some negative comments?

When? What point?
Well, when it becomes clear after 2010 that the ballot box has been so corrupted as to not be an option anymore.

And it should ALREADY be “beginning”, with phonecalls and letters to your STATE LEGISLATORS. Demand state sovereignty legislation. Then demand enforcement.

Then, prepare to back up your locals when the feds come to arrest them or enforce their unconstitutional laws.

What exactly are you talking about? We're simply talking about attending town hall meetings to voice our opinions on the matter and let them know if they don't start listening, they will be voted out of office. BTW, even if your intent was not to cause trouble or sound like a crazyman, you will be quoted on various left wing blogs and accused of just that. Not only that, they'll label the entire site as such. Just sayin’....

who may be funded by industry interest groups.

The media never DID discuss the hands of the Communist Party behind the so-called "antiwar" protests (that were suprisingly PRO-Palestinian war and pro-insurgency).

When citizens oppose big government socialism, it’s an “astroturf” campaign by “special interests”.

When an Orwellian mob of union thugs show up and protest or a mob of illegals show up and demand amnesty.....it’s an example of “grassroots democracy”.

That's okay, this Democrat rolled the GOP and Libertarian parties together into ONE "party of no".
