I am going out on a limb here. I will not click through to read the article, don’t want to give the WaPo or Kathleen the click.

BTW, Parker, get drilled. If the comment is not fair for this commentary, just consider partial payment for previous articles.

The GOP doesn't have enough Jim DeMints. This is coming from a Yankee.

Save some time and skip it...

example... “That same rage was on display again in the fall of 2008, but this time the frenzy was stimulated by a pretty gal with a mocking little wink. Sarah Palin may not have realized what she was doing, but Southerners weaned on Harper Lee heard the dog whistle.”

“What the GOP is experiencing now, one hopes, are the death throes of that 50-year spell that Johnson foretold. But before the party of the Great Emancipator can rise again, Republicans will have to face their inner Voinovich and drive a stake through the heart of old Dixie.”

So they ARE trying to start a new Civil War...and split the country along racial AND geographical lines...what’s next for these clowns? This is disgusting...

Nor does the GOP have a monopoly on ignorance or racism.

No, Kathleen...it doesn't.

But, perhaps, you do. When it comes to Southerners, Christians and conservatives.

This lady may be a Republican...but she is not a conservative. She is an elitist Eastern twit.

Personally, I don't give a damn what the Washington Post, Senator George Voinovich and columnist Kathleen Parker might think. About anything...

You don't have to "shuttup", Kathleen, but it doesn't mean I have to read (or care) what you write.

Exactly why is Kathleen Parker considered a conservative? In the last two years she’s done nothing but write nasty articles excoriating those awful conservative Republicans because they don’t want to get with the liberal/moderate Republican program. Has she written any articles where she’s heavily criticized Dems and libs for destroying the country? It’s been non-stop Palin/conservative Republican bashing for a long time. And she explicitly calls southern Republicans racists because they embrace conservative values. I’m beginning to think she’s some kind of liberal Manchurian candidate who came on as a conservative but is rapidly turning into a typical lib scribbler.

Yeah, if Sarah Palin was a southerner they’d probably be questioning her intelligence, making obscene jokes about her minor daughter and starting false rumors about the condition of her marriage. Glad she’s not from the south.

I used to enjoy Parker’s articles. No more. I put her in the same elitist class as Peggy Noonan and Maureen Dowd. Birds of a feather and not worth the time it takes to read their garbage.

This article was written with the intent to mock conservatives. Might I add, from a purely political point of view, the left and our dearly beloved leader (sarc) do not need one single republican to go along with their plan.

The last thing conservatives need to do is heed the advice of George Voinovich.

So, why do we allow Kathleen Parker to be portrayed as a conservative? She pens in this article that the last decades have been very dark for the GOP and she means our core beliefs. Has she ever added quality to the conversation or just abundance in mocking tone?

Was Reagan elected because of the fear and loathing of the Republican party festering over this great land? Does Kathleen Parker think this is a great land?

I’m going to ignore, for now, her dismissing of the so called “birthers” because what else would you expect from Ms. Parker.

Sounds like liberal talking points. It's true that there are people in Los Angeles, Manhattan, and Cambridge, Massachusetts, who can't sleep at night worrying that people reading the Bible in the backwoods of West Virginia and Alabama will prevent them from having sex lives, for some strange reason. And part of the reason they disliked Bush so much had to do with his Texas accent.

However, this has not prevented liberals from carrying on their own love affairs with southerners and hillbillies on occasion.

All questions about the realignment of Dixiecrats, Jacksonians, and George Wallace voters aside, it may be more revealing about the attitudes of liberals.

Okay. If the GOP thinks it can get along without our votes, let them try. I can think of something better to do than to get up early to make it to the polls when they open, or to rush home late in the evening to get there before they close.

I’m SURE they will be able win HORDES of “moderate” votes from the Democrats by dumping us. I bet they can win enough to be the singular political power in the US for decades, even. Go for it!

Not.

What a twit. Unfortunately, she probably reflects the viewpoints of the majority of the GOP’s leadership.

Kathleen probably will get a good laugh tonight over cocktails with those inside the beltway elitist rinos who can’t win shit without us but think being lapdogs for BO and trying to undermine us gives them “pull” inside the beltway. Screw you and it would be doing you a favor. If the GOP can’t use us and the marxists dems can’t use conservative blue collar folks, the GOP will die and a new conservative party will emerge.

It makes no difference whether it is the Republicans or Democrats. The elitist snobs in both parties cast dispersions at small town and/or rural Americans in bother the South and the West. Politicians from both parties want your vote...then want you to shut up and swallow their garbage.

Obviously K. Parker is part of that crowd.

Parker couldn't resist her shot at Palin either there for a race that was close to one year ago. She's an idiot. She voted for Obama and then lectures the GOP? She also doesn't know that that Arizona and Alaska are not part of the South?

The facts, which the worthless Voinovich and worthless Parker do not get, is that the GOP needs the South, and the Midwest, the West, and the Northeast (at least parts of it for congressional purposes).

Kathleen, first, the reason that conservatives, particularly Southern conservatives, are dominant in the GOP and moderates are not is because the former are winning elections and the latter are not. This is unfortunate, but I’m hard pressed to see why the guys who are winning should have to change their ways rather than the guys who are losing.

Second, Kathleen, Sarah Palin was born and has, aside from parts of her college days, lived all her life far north of the Mason-Dixon Line, and risen to political power about as far north of it (and as far away from the troubled political history of the South) as it’s physically possible to get without having to head south again. The fact that somebody so incorrigibly Northern she sounds like Frances McDormand as Marge Gunderson can find not only political supporters but raving fans, among folks not only in the South but all across the Lower 49 (including Ohio), ought to be a cause for joy on the right, not concern. And it ought to be a major clue for you and the senator.
